Now With Dual Air Bags ! ! !

Moving Day!

The giant moving van was pulled up to the front of the world headquarters of the Deep Range Fleet RPG and thick-necked movers were busy hauling boxes and furniture out of the building. Harried DRF employees were scuttling to keep out of the way, while simultaneously pack up their workspaces. In the end, everything was loaded on the truck and whisked away to the DRF's new location: the Strategic Strike Force!

By that evening, everything had been unloaded, the moving truck and thick-necked drones were gone, and everyone was trying to settle into their new digs. The employees of the SSF seemed a pleasant lot, and made us feel welcomed. They even let us park our starships in their garage.

It was a big job getting the web sites moved, but things are settling down now. Everything is running just like it did before, plus we have the SSF web site scripts available to us, if any of the captains are interested, and the SSF forums for chatting. Now if we could just find the box where we packed Jo....

Ribbon Cutting

The DRF has a new department, and consequently a new section on the web site. The Library is now open for business! The idea behind this will be to showcase all the wonderful things we've created. It'll feature things we've written aside from the RPG, as well as material collected and compiled and embellished from old posts. There'll even be an entire wing dedicated to artwork!

We need your help though to fill the Library's shelves. If you have anything you've written that you'd like displayed, send it in! It doesn't have to be related to the DRF. It doesn't have to be related to Star Trek. It doesn't even have to be science fiction! Got a short story? A long story? Poetry? Pictures? Great!

To find the Library, go to the DRF web site, click the 'Departments' button, then scroll down a bit and click on the DRF Library logo.

Feeling Chatty?

Thanks to our new friends at the SSF, we have a slick new Message Board to play with. Several DRF players have already signed up and are basking in the warmth of this new and revolutionary form of interpersonal communication!

To visit the forums, just click the Forums button on the main nav bar of the DRF web site.

All I Ask Is A Tall Ship . . .

USS Victory

by David Moody

Currently engaged in her third mission, "Shore Liberty", The USS Victory, the most recent addition to the Deep Range Fleet, has taken a brief stop at Starbase 416 for some well-deserved liberty. Her overworked crew has had their mettle tested again and again since the first few hours following her launch last year. They have recovered the missing crew of another starship, traveled far enough to find themselves, lost then rescued their XO and Chief Counselor, lost and gained more crew than a canon story ever would have by now, and finally stopped for a brief rest (but don't place your bets on that one just yet) .

This Prometheus class SIM is currently in the process of adding a chat component to the simming. If you are interested in joining that section or the PBEM part of the SIM, drop a line to LentiUtex@aol.com

With a full command staff and quickly filling in the rest of the ranks as well as the civilian population, the USS Victory encourages anyone and everyone to lurk along and follow her adventures online or via her listserver. The last month has brought several new players and exciting characters to bear on the SIM, including the new civilian teacher, Bareil Andrei, who has no idea what's in store for his as out only childcare specialist. We're not entirely certain that he was aware of just how many current pregnancies there are abord the Victory! ::rubs hands together evilly::

Starbase 901

by Kitty Stressman

Due to my father's death last Thursday night, posts have been delayed, but they will be out before Sunday night.

USS Taurus

by Ian Barker

The USS Taurus is back on the trail of the missing scientists after the discovery that the Vorta Saba had been keeping information from the Taurus crew, whilst passing on all the information we provided to her onto her Dominion masters. Captain Taybar has now made the decision to expel the Vorta and Jem'Hadar, much to the relief of many onboard the Taurus.

The new Captain is settling in nicely and she is impressed with her new crew and especially the XO M'eko. Our new Intelligence officer is also starting to fit in and was the one who provided the Captain with a vital clue that has led us to the Federation outpost on Morishim IV. Should the rogue Jem'Hadar attack the outpost (Which according to Lieutenant Wright's source, they most likely will) we will attempt to remain hidden long enough from the rogue Jem'Hadar to get a good sensor profile of their vessel and track it back to their home base.

Hopefully by then we should have received some reinforcements, as Major Phanan brings some of his Marines to the Taurus. We also have a couple of new characters coming onboard with the Major and his troops. The first is Lieutenant Marco Borealiou, who will be joining us at Senior Operations officer. Marco is played by Robert Tugwell who is a veteran RPG and I hope will be a valuable addition to the crew. Our second new addition is Lieutenant (JG) Zack Dare, who will be joining us as Helm officer. Zack is an NPC created by myself, but with another member of the crew very much in mind. His background is a little hazy and there is a big question mark over where he has been the past five years.

As well as the new recruits, we have also lost players since the last newsletter. Whilst they remain on the crew roster for now, once the transfer across to the Leviathan is complete, they will go

USS Leviathan-A (Season 7)

by Ian Barker

The last season of the current USS Leviathan-A is slowly coming to an end. Things are coming into place which will bring to an end the threat that the Federation faces from our mirror enemies. By the middle of February, I hope to have the season closed for good so we can get on with the new USS Leviathan-B.

As well as the new posts (From both the Taurus and the Leviathan-B) I am also slowly re-creating the archive of the first seven season of the Leviathan. So far season one to three are complete (which cover the entire lifespan of the original USS Leviathan) and season four is a third of the way complete. If you're feeling nostalgic or want to see how the adventure all began (four years ago) then the new web-site is the place to go!

USS Leviathan-B (The Merger)

by Ian Barker

The new site is up and working fully after taking onboard the comments provided. Once the Taurus season closes, the Leviathan-B season will open up where things left off. All the old Leviathan-A crew that have expressed an interest in continuing have been added to the new site, with new profiles.

Season eight will complete the storyline started by the Taurus, as well as bring in major parts of season nine. In Season nine, we are looking at trying to prevent another major attack on the Federation from an alien race as yet undiscovered. We may also be making a trip to Starbase 901, where the truth about several characters, on both the Leviathan and the Starbase maybe revealed.

Over the next couple of weeks, I'm also starting a major recruitment drive to get more players to join our group so be prepared for some new faces in the corridors.

USS Eagle

by Richard T. Merk

The Eagle responded to an emergency distress call from the planet Tanzaria, which had suffered a biological attack from mysterious aliens. One of the survivors brought on board was young Katianna Nadira, who will eventually serve as Intelligence Officer on Starbase 901 more than a hundred years in the future. A dastardly Klingon plot was foiled, a little evidence on the identity of the attackers was uncovered, and many Tanzaran refugees will be dropped off at Space Station K7.

We've gotten a few more new players in the last month, including a complete newbie by the name of Jovani Burgos — I guess they recognize a quality RPG when they see one.... :-)
