Defiant Class Shield System
  
 

The main shield system of the Avenger is based on the multi-layered shield system developed for the Defiant class. This system at the time was highly classified and as such was the only system not installed at the K'rang shipyards.

The shield system was installed at the Antaries shipyards and was the last major component to be installed. The facility was where the Federation had recently started construction of new Defiant class vessels.

  
 
Secondary Shield System
  
 

This auxiliary shield system was installed to enable the Avenger to be taken to the Antaries shipyards for the installation of the main shield system. The system was taken from a K'Vort-class Bird of Prey which was being dismantled for salvage.

Rather than remove this system from the vessel once the main system was installed, it was kept as a backup system.

  
 
Structural Integrity Field
  
 

The Avenger is equipped with a enhanced version of the SIF generators used aboard the Defiant class vessel. This system has been modified to overcome some of the problems using the Ion drive system and also to allow the vessel to make extreme manoeuvres.
