Shuttle Bays

The Avenger has two shuttle bays, situated underneath the vessel and directly ahead of the main Ion engines. Each bay is thirty metres long, ten metres high and forty metres wide and can only be accessed from the front.

One bay is equipped with two class-20 shuttles, capable of long-range flight. These can also be used to evacuate the majority of the crew, each capable of carrying upto twelve crew. Because of the restricted space in the shuttle bay, there are two landing pads, both on turntables.

The other bay is usually empty, but is large enough to hold a vessel the size of a Danube class runabout with room to spare.

Type-20 Shuttle

This shuttle class is the latest shuttle design. The Type-20 also known as the Lunar class, is designed to eventually replace the Danube class runabout aboard all Starfleet vessels.

The Lunar class is smaller than a Danube runabout, meaning that they can be carried aboard vessels with limited shuttle space. The Lunar class is both faster and more maneuverable than the Danube class and has been equipped with the latest weapons and shields.

Even though the Lunar class was designed to replace the Danube, the warp core installed in the Lunar class is an enhanced version of the Danube class.

This class was designed for long-range, high-speed travel and has living accommodation for upto twelve crew.
