CAITIANS

Homeworld: Cait

Native to a cool arboreal world, Caitians resemble the human feline to an astonishing degree. It is believed that they are the descendants of an ancient Kzinti colonization group. They are bipedal, with pointed ears atop their head; their eyes have slitted pupils and provide excellent low-light vision; they have the whiskers and facial lines of the cat, in addition to the sleek fur and (almost prehensile) tail. They have opposable thumbs (with claws!) and keen intellects.

The Caitian language consists of multiple soft tones, spoken with a deep, purring resonance; this style of communication makes it difficult for the Caitians to adapt to phonetic languages. Caitians have excellent hearing, with a frequency range far beyond that heard by normal humanoids. For this reason, many Ciatians who enter Starfleet specialize in communications and sonic sciences.

They are a naturally graceful and athletic race, but on average somewhat smaller than humans. They feel strong ties to those around them. Their temperature comfort zone ranges from 25 to 80 degrees. Unlike the Kzinti, the Caitian race is not hostile in nature. Their reputation as one of the most cooperative and intelligent members of the Federation makes Caitian crew members much sought after throughout Starfleet.

PLAYING THE CAITIAN

Well, just watch your cat. Caitians are loyal, curious and usually tolerant. However, when provoked they can be quite dangerous.
