DECK 10

Deck 10 houses the photon torpedo launching system. This facility handles the storage, arming and loading of the ship's photon torpedoes. All loading and firing procedures are handled from the bridge; this arrangement shortens firing order-to-launch time by twenty percent over common manual launch systems. Storage for the torpedo casings is also on Deck 10. A loading arm magnetically clutches each casing to be fired and inserts it into an arming receptacle, where a matter/antimatter charge is injected and primed. Once the explosive payload is in place, the casing travels to the launch system. There, the loading arm releases the armed torpedo, and it is carried into the launch tube by magnetic carrier.

The photon torpedo launch tube is mounted on the primary hull's forward centerline, in between the forward phaser banks.

The ship's Auxiliary Fire Control Room is situated at the center of the Deck. From this location, all shipboard weapons systems can be controlled manually.
