Deck 11, a single room, is the Main Sensor Array Monitoring Station. Two science specialists man this facility. A stairway leads up to the turbolift door on Deck 10, the bottom of the turbolift shaft.
An access hatch in the center of the floor provides access to the Ion Pod, a one-person observation capsule used to take direct measurements of conditions outside the ship. During severe ion storms, it may become necessary to jettison the Ion Pod to prevent radiation contamination and structural damage to the lower primary hull.
