Deck 17

Emergency Transporters

At the forward end of Deck 17 is the secondary hull's emergency transporter facility. Here, two twenty-two man platforms, one on either side of the main stairwell, provide engineering and support personnel with a means of quickly evacuating the secondary hull should such a need arise. Persons may be beamed into the emergency transporters on Deck 7, or to a secondary target (such as a planet surface or nearby vessel).

Secondary Hull Circuit Breaker Room

Adjacent to the main stairwell is the circuit breaker room for decks 12-21. This compartment is similar in configuration to that on Deck 9.

Shuttle Hangar Landing Deck

Eagle's landing bay incorporates many new developments in Federation technology. A wide range of Starfleet and Federation craft can utilize this landing facility. Alcoves on either side furnish all necessary recharging and refueling equipment.

An auto-landing system is built into the center of the bay floor. This insures that all approaching craft easily clear the opening into the bay.

Flush cargo doors, on either side of the auto-landing track, open to reveal storage holds beneath on Deck 18.

An additional feature of the landing bay floor is its variable gravity capability. Different sections may be programmed independently to exert from zero to two times earth gravity, facilitating a wide range of shuttle maintenance and final checkout procedures.

A landing tractor beam is mounted against the Deck 16 bulkhead, between the Observation Galleries. This unit is operated from within the Landing Bay Control Room on Deck 15.

A rectangular elevator at the forward end of the Hangar Deck access the two levels beneath Deck 17, allowing shuttlecraft to travel down to the main hangar and repair facilities.

Small personnel airlocks on either side of the landing bay doors provide admittance to the ship's fantail structure. Each of the two airlocks contains one spacesuit and thruster pack, along with tether lines and other minor EVA equipment.
