Launched in 2264, the armored shuttle is designed for landings on high-gravity worlds, or planets with extremely hostile environments. The double hull is heavily reinforced, and the windows are a mere slit. Internally, the armored shuttle is similar to the standard shuttle, except the rear engineering compartment is larger to accomodate its larger engines. Unlike the standard shuttle, the armored shuttle is armed with one forward-mounted phaser bank, and is capable of light combat missions, although because of its bulk, is not very maneuverable.
