Launched in 2262, the high-speed shuttle is designed to fill the role of long-distance courier. The design is much more streamlined and efficient than the standard shuttle, with a small passenger compartment in front and a cargo hold in the rear, which is accessed by the large drop-down ramp/door. A pair of nacelles gave the craft warp capability. Modest shielding was designed in, but the high-speed shuttle was never intended to serve any combat role.
