Character History

John grew up on earth not far from the Old USMC Recruit Depot of Paris Island, South Carolina. At the age of seven John knew his life would be that of a Marine. He spent the next seven years getting himself ready for the event of Basic Training.

At the age of 17 John enlisted in 2350, and finished 1 year later first in his class. He was then stationed in and saw action on the Border against the Cardassians. He earned a reputation as outstanding Marine and earned a few medals for
his actions during this time.

In 2359 when the treaty was signed that ended tensions on the border, John Hartman now a Staff Sergant found himself finding peace time hard.

In 2363 he took, a secret assignment few in Star Fleet knew about, Tactical advisor to the Legal Government in Bajor. Over the next three Year's John helped play a role in the Cardassian withdraw from Bajor. One incident he took a shoot at Gul by the name of Fornsk at some 1000 meters away, and actually hit him, and killed him. John carries the Gul's rank badge as a trophy of this event.

In 2369 he advised the Bajoran Militia in training their enlisted, and years later he did the same for his own Government. During this time the Bajoran government awarded John a Brevet rank of Major for his service in their cause.

In 2373 the Dominion War started, Now a Master Sergent John was assigned to Defense force 21-A on Okiara. Okirara is a planet between SB 375, and DS9. The Outpost lasted for over 3 months before being pulled out. On a 24 hour pass on SB375 John had a run in with a disrespectful Ensign, saying that Bajor was adding the enemy. John reacted in true Marine fashion and broke the young officer's jaw. He was busted to PFC, however he didn't seem to mind.

While a PFC he took part in a daring raid that took out a Jem'Hadar breeding plant, He was then given two stripes, and promoted to Sergant and Squad leader of the 32nd Expedtionary force. The 32nd fought in 11 Campaigns, and in 43 separate battles. In one event, Sergant Hartman stormed three columns of Jem'Hadar, killing 312. For this he was Awarded the Medal of Valor. At the end of the War, John was sent off to different post, and he seemed to fall back to his old ways of drinking and such. John was then given one last assignment as Platoon Sergeant of the 28th Expetionary Force on SB901. He gladly accepted the post.
