Background

She was born on her world of Caladaana and almost from the moment of her birth, her parents knew she was special. One of the gifted children of her world. As she grew older, more of her abilities began to appear, so in fear, her parents took her and fled from the bad men that would come take her, otherwise. But their departure was noticed and they were pursued relentlessly. Her parents could not shake their pursuers. As their shuttled was damaged in the chase it crashed on a planet called Trayva. Kassia had witnessed her father and mother both die before her eyes at the age of six. The bad men never found her. They apparently believed she had died in the accident along with her parents.

When she made her way out of the shuttle, her nightgown that she had been wearing was tattered and torn. Her body was bruised and bleeding. In her hands was a blanket and a stuffed dog-like creature. She had wandered into a village. When asked who she was, she could only produce a first name. When they asked where she had come from, she could not say. She didn't remember. She had suppressed the traumatic events.

She was taken in by an elderly couple, Tava and Joshen Stovenov. They cared for her like she was their own since they had no living children. However, she was still quiet and reserved as if she were always waiting for something terrible to happen. She also suffered from nightmares though they eventually diminished. But they loved her as if she were their own child and did the best they could by her.

When she was nine years old, their town was hit by a bad virus killing her foster parents and leaving her alone again. This time, she was sent to another village and to another couple, Mareesh and Mikolo Nevalla. They were not very kind and many times were down right abusive. They had no patience with her even though they knew she wasn't from their world. If she did anything that wasn't to their liking, they beat her. They verbally abused her as well. This made her even more reserved and withdrawn. They also had a son by the name of Troy. He was older than Kassia. The best guess is by about 10 years. He grew to love her very much and did what he could to protect her. Many nights, Kassia crawled into his bed just for his comfort and protection from his own family.

One night, Mikolo got raging drunk and sprang at Kassia when she was about sixteen. His intentions were not even to beat her, but something far worse. He was going to force himself on her while Mareesh was visiting family in another village. However, Troy, who still lived at home to try his best to protect Kassia, woke up and heard the commotion. He pushed his father away and they fought. His father was so drunk that he pulled a knife on his own son and stabbed him in the gut. Once he realized what he'd done, Mikolo took off running into the night. That was the night of Kassia's first premonition. She knew that Troy would be okay. She saw help arriving because of the noise they had caused as she touched him. Within moments, help was there.

As soon as Troy was well enough, and against his mother's wishes, he took Kassia from Trayva on the first shuttle they could hop. They ended up on another world called Santori. Once there, she met a woman named Clarize who was very kind and had many talents. She took Kassia and Troy in. She was a counselor of sorts, but was also a mystic. She used cards, runes and stars to help people. When she found that Kassia had the gift, she began to show her how to hone her skills. She also imparted her philosophy of using her gifts for good. During this time, however, Kassia began her search for love and found disaster with two people in particular. Arviel, who has cheated on her, while professing his love for her and Rojere, who got angry one night and tried to beat her before Troy got a hold of him.

When Clarize finally died of old age, she willed everything to Kassia and Troy. Kassia was devastated at having lost someone so close to her, but Troy help her through it. After that, they purchased a shuttle of their own and left Santori and ended up on SB901 where Kassia opened a little shop with the knowledge Clarize had given her called Kassia's Cave of Curiosities and Mystery. She sells candles, incense, special cards and runes and religious objects for many different religions. However, she also gives readings for a price and is usually accurate. Sometimes she had a difficult time with the reads she does. She does not always see happy endings . . . And she can know when someone won't heed her warnings. Shortly after arriving on the station, she met the love of her life - Tarik. They have been together ever since, one way or another.

Her life hasn't been a quiet one aboard the station though. She was asked to join Starfleet and has since become the Station's Counselor. She's been interrogated by the Son'a and lived to tell. She faced a Traitor. She's been through a lot and has come to realize that her powers exceeded her wildest imaginings. She even regained most of her lost memories from her childhood. She and Tarik have even adopted a child of Kassia's own race. Another special child just like she was, whose parents had fled their world and had died. Together they are a family and enjoy their time together. Troy is still protective, though he knows she can take care of herself now and she had made many close friends on the Station who might as well be family. SB901 is her home and she wouldn't have it any other way.
