Background

Jonathon was born aboard the USS Douglas, a Galaxy Class Explorer carrying several hundred Starfleet Personnel, their families and civilan crew. He lived an ordinary childhood, his father being the Ship's Chief Security Officer and his mother the Ship's Chief Engineer; he was raised to believe in loyalty and responsiblity, these traits stemming from his parents roles protecting, safeguarding and ensuring the smooth lives of all the living beings aboard the ship, he grew up with a sense of concern, a sense of humour, a sense of curiousness, and possibly the most important, the belief that he should help others where he could and do his best to make the galaxy a better place to live in.

After living a fairly eventful (considering some other children's upbringings) childhood aboard a variety of Starship's, the final two being commanded by his mother and father respectively, Jonathon headed for the place he knew he was heading ever since he could walk and talk, Starfleet Academy. His parents made it clear to him that it was his choice what he did with his life and that they would be proud of and love him no-matter-what, but they told him of their ideas of him going into Starfleet, serving a long and active service eventually reaching the echelons of high command, and then being able to retire and live the rest of his life as he wanted to, they always encouraged him to live his life to the full and that was what he always did, that is his strongest philosophy to date and it will probably stay with him for the rest of his life.

He applied to and passed the Starfleet Academy Entrance Exam at his first try, his parents claim that the proudest day of they their lives was when he recieved his results from the Entrance Exam and stated that he would always do them proud; his mother and father had nothing against his decision to join Starfleet Academy majoring in Security and minoring in Communication, they actively encouraged him to pursue his dream of becoming a Security Officer aboard a Starbase or Ship, hopefully one day becoming a Chief Security Officer then rising to his own commands and being promoted to a position in the Fleet Admiralty, he had high hopes to be assigned to a Starbase rather than a Ship, preferably with plenty of races coming and going from it and being stationed near a Federation Border, he had no idea that in six years time he would get this chance due to his high academy grades.

For his first year in the San Francisco Campus he took the general courses required by all prospective Starfleet Officers, in his second year beginning the Major and Minor Specialisations he had chosen, aspiring to become a Security Officer on a Frontier Base, he carried on with his Advanced General Studies Course, his Advanced Security Course, his Advanced Communications Course and his Beginners Command Course during his four mandatory years at the Academy.

In his fourth year, he graduated from the Academy passing all his courses with Distinction, being given a 97.275 % make, the second highest for his year and the highest for his Security Class, he excelled in Public Order Training, Weapons Training and worked hard at his Physical Combat Training, passing this part of the course famed for it's notorious difficulty, it was especially hard for Cadet Leret as he did have a weakness being that due to an accident whilst living as a child aboard a Starship, he suffered some major injuries to his upper torso. This has left him with a weakness in his chest, which if attacked can leave him winded for some time.

His coming second in his year to a Vulcan did not annoy him, he was great friends with the vulcan in question (friendship being an emotion, the vulcan, whose name will not be mentioned had to change a great deal of his life to experience 'friendship' with his classmates, but they liked him more for it) and his parents were greatly thrilled and pleased at his Academy performance and were excited at the news that he was moving to Mars for two years as a Command Cadet First and Second Year to complete his required two-year Advanced Command Course that he would need to reach the high levels he wanted to go to, he passed the course with distinction, coming joint-first in the class and was duly given a three week leave to say goodbye to his parents, his family and his friends before departing to his first posting as an Ensign in Starfleet Security, Starbase 901, this posting held every quality and had challenges to it, this was what he had wanted since childhoold, his dream was finally coming true.

Personality

Jonathon has the ability to get along with everyone he comes into contact with, finding it easy to make friends with others. However, he also has a tendency to just get on with things and it has been said that although he appears to be friendly, he is hard to make friends with. As a child he bitten by the families pet Springer spaniel and although the damage was only minor, it has left Jonathon with a fear of dogs. This fear is more noticeable around energetic dogs that are jumping and barking in their daily lives. Around more placid dogs, especially the smaller breeds he can control is fear to a great extent. Jonathon also does not have a very good head for heights and whilst this could not be classed as a fear of heights, we does prefer to work in low-level environments.

Special Abilities

Jonathon can speak several Terran languages to varying degrees, he is fluent in Federation Standard and German and can speak intermediate French. He is also learning Klingon and one of his ambitions is to one day be able to order a Raktajino in a Klingon mess hall without accidentally insulting the entire room of Klingons and their bloodlines. He has a very high tolerance to pain, able to endure a great deal of pain before letting it affect him significantly. He also has a higher than average stamina rating.

Hobbies

Jonathon has a fascination with antiquated Starfleet academy command training simulations. He has programmed many of these into holo-programmes where he always take the role of being the Cadet Captain. One of his favourites is the 'Kobayashi Maru scenario' an apparently impossible problem to solve, but Marco has been determined to discover how the legendary Captain James T Kirk, was the only one to solve the problem.He also enjoys writing and performing in holo-novels and acting in various plays.
