Background

Garek Loran is six feet tall and weighs 165 pounds. He has blue eyes and blond hair. Loran is the son of Ton and Belinda Loran. Ton Loran, his father, was a Betazoid lawyer in the Judge Advocate General core in Starfleet in San Francisco. There, he met Belinda Phanan, a counselor. The two fell deeply in love and married. Garek came along four years later.

Loran grew up as an only child. He enjoyed playing sports with his friends and worked on computer systems. His father taught him law, hoping for him to become a lawyer. However, Loran chose his own path and became interested in starships.

At the age of 17, Garek hit the epitome of his adolescent age. He built his own shuttlecraft. It was similar to that of a personal shuttlepod and had a top sublight speed of 0.6 c, and top warp speed of warp two. He often raced his other friends through canyons on the moon on weekends, even though his father condemed such actions. At the age of 18, Loran's mother influence him to join Starfleet, saying that it would increase his mechanical potention. Garek, after deep thought, joined up.

He attended Starfleet Acadamy and graduated at the age of 21 with a major in Engineering and Warp Theory. He was part of the Academic Flight Team, and did the fly-by over the graduation ceremony with the rest of his flight team.

After graduating, Loran's first assignment was aboard the Klingon Bird-of-Prey, To'Kar. He was serving as an "exchange student" to the Klingon Empire. During this time, he learned much about the functioning of Klingon ships, especially that of cloaking devices. This knowledge would serve him later for the construction of the Lambda Flier on the USS Virgo.

After two years of servicing as an engineer aboard the To'Kar, he was transfered to a Federation starship, the USS Liberty, an Excelsior Class ship. Loran, showing much potential, was made a Lietenant JG and assigned as a crew chief. Gaining in knowledge and expertise, the CO of the Liberty recommended that he be transfered to a different ship where his services could be better used. At the recondomation of the captain, Loran was transfered to the USS Virgo where he served as Chief Engineer. Loran was promoted to Lieutenent on October 25, 2382 by Captain Maruu. On April 23, 2383, Loran was promoted to Lietenant Commander for his valor in a campaign led by Captain Maruu on Xenon III.

His quick assencion in the ranks of Starfleet didn't end there. He was quickly transfered to Supply Base 901 as the Chief Engineer and second in command.

Captain's Note

  • Commander Garek Loran is a capable, and most talented Engineer. For if it had been anyone else other then him when I asked the station to be moved above New Canada, I feel they would have failed.

    I herby recommend Garek Loran for promotion to Full Commander, and receive the Medal of Merit for his outstanding service to the station. I hope he continues to show his skills, and will benefit some from this.
