Background

Kitara was born on Tanzaria, and raised there until the age of sixteen. She had an uneventful life. Both her parents worked at a research lab. Since she had been a child, and had been told of the destruction of her world and its rebirth and the role that Starfleet and the Federation had played in that. Since those first stories she had always had a desire to join Starfleet. She took the entrance exam and was accepted into Starfleet Academy. She excelled at her studies and graduated with High Honors. She was set in motion on the Command track. Her field of strength was science and her first assignment was as a Science Officer. She went up in rank as time went on. When she was 26 she was told that her parents had been killed in an accident in the lab. No further details were given her. She grieved, though she wasn't particularly close to her family. She had been closer to her friends. In fact, she had considered her friends her family, since they were the ones she could turn to for emotional support. Something she didn't get much of from her parents.

When she was 27, she met Jonas and fell in love with him. She thought he was the perfect man. She could read his thoughts and believed they were genuine. That he was the man she was meant to love. They married three and a half months later. He was also an Officer in Starfleet - in security. Unfortunately, problems started shortly after they were married. But the birth of their son brought Kitty great joy and happiness. She threw herself into work and being a mother. She did her best to save a failing marriage. When she had her daughter, she was thrilled, but within a year she knew she wanted out of the marriage. She was sick of the verbal and some physical abuse she and their son endured and she didn't want her kids witnessing it anymore. She put in for a different posting and filed for Divorce, which she was granted. When proof of the abuse was brought to light, Jonas was not granted joint custody and was only allowed to see the children when Kitty agreed, and under supervision. She was sent to Space Station 352 and was an officer in security as a change in pace. She had made a good life with the kids. Then, one day, Jonas showed up without warning. Held a phaser to the sitter and locked her in a closet. By the time Kitty had found out what had happened, she put in a report, only to find out that Jonas had gotten the kids on a shuttle and due to some strange mishap, the shuttle's core had exploded, killing everyone aboard, including Jonas, Zachary and Arianna, or so she and everyone believed.

After that, she had a breakdown and at one point tried to kill herself. She almost succeeded before a friend found her and got her help. She was hospitalized for awhile. When she was finally cleared, she returned to duties - light duties at first, but as she continues to do well, they gave her more work and eventually transferred her to the Diplomatic Corp. Since that time she has kept her distance from most people, but has become one of the better Diplomatic officers. No one knows what goes on in her mind, except for her regular visits to a therapist which were required.

Since coming to SB901 she has managed to find a network of friends, not just associates. She has exceeded expectations placed upon her and when Wallace was given his own ship, she was given command of SB901. During certain events of November 2384, she discovered her children were not dead. They were very much alive and due to a time jump, she was able to get them back at the same age they were taken from her at. Her was 8 and her daughter was 2. Jonas, her Ex husband, was then arrested. However, he escaped custody and was on the loose, until he arrived back on the station as the Mulluran Ambassador. Kitty is thrilled to have her children back and feels as if she has her life back once more.

Kitty and Troy began seeing each as more than just friends shortly after she was given command of SB901. When she discovered she was pregnant, their relationship took on new depth and a new commitment to one another. On December 25, 2384 Kitty and Troy were wed on SB901 in a simple ceremony in a holosuite in the presence of her children, Tarik, Kassia and Tiyanna. They anxiously await the arrive of their child.

Personality

There was a time where her life looked very bleek. But even in the worst of times her job held her together. Drinking also held her together and she could be found at the different drinking establishments on the station on her off-time. However, her drinking never interfered with her job performance. Her job was the most important thing in her life when she thought her children were dead. But now that her children are back in her life, she is much more at peace and is happier than anyone can ever remember seeing her. She has always cared about those she works with and who are under her command. She is warm and friendly. But she is also a leader and can do what needs to be done. She's very approachable.

Hobbies

Spending time with children, holosuites, reading, crocheting.
