Personality
Extremely loyal, will never disobey and always keeps his word. Like other Namekians, he doesn't have as wide a range of emotions as other humanoids, the most prominent absence being that of Love. Piccolo keeps to himself, and spends most of his time in training in the holodeck, or gym, or even in his quarters depending on where he can find to do it. Has a sometimes dark sense of humour, and is not a typical Marine officer.

Character History
Piccolo comes from Namek. Like all Namekians, he has a strong warrior spirit and from a young age, began training as a warrior. He was highly trained in martial arts by the other Namek's in his village, and was soon entering tournaments and ranking high. In 2375, the first Starfleet vessel reached Namek and ended in disaster, the crew of the USS Dominion found themselves under attack by the Namek's who didn't take kindly to the Federation visiting their planet. Piccolo, now being a true Namekian warrior was involved with the initial attacks on the Starfleet personel. The Namek's superior strangth and combat skill sshone through as the Federation were easily beaten back.
Later, a truce was made and peaceful talks began. It wasn't long before the Namek's had applied for Federation membership. They achieved this in 2379. Piccolo, thought very highly of the Federation personel he fought against four years earlier and decided that he would travel to Earth to see their home planet. The Namek's had warp technology, but rarely used it and only had a fleet of four 1-man transport ships.
When Piccolo reached Earth, he applied for membership in the marine corps. He flew through all the applications and was soon finding himself nearing graduation. Upon graduation in 2382, he was immediately sent to Puranov III as part of a peacekeeping force. When hostilities finally died down in August of 2384, he and the rest of his unit, were then reassigned to SB901 to replace the dwindling 68th expiditionary force.

About Namekians
Nameks are an interesting species and have baffled Starfleet doctors for years. For a start, they have no sex, but lay eggs to reproduce. Each Namek is only capable of laying three in their life time, but may choose to lay none.
The most intriguing ability of the Nameks however, is not their way of reproduction, but their ability to regenerate themselves. If in battle, should a Namek loose a limb or be severely wounded, he is able to regenerate his body almost immediately. This coupled with highly advanced hearing, Vulcan like strength and short ranged telepathy allows them to maintain their reputation as some of the strongest warriors in the known galaxy.
