The Host : Lazarus

Lazarus was a Trill guarding a symbiote chamber when one of them fell ill. It needed to be transplanted or it would die. So, he had it transplanted into himself and became Lazarus Kox; the first of the Kox hosts. After this, he escaped from the planet and found his way to Ferenginar where he made a living for himself. Soon, he left to Deep Space Nine and met Quark, whereafter he decided to become an Entertainment Director aboard a starship. He filed his request to Starfleet and was allowed to board a transport that would send him to Deep Space 15 in order to board the USS Virgo just before it left the station and the Alpha Quadrant.

While on the Virgo, during a battle with an Android gone mad named Solacetta, a Trill named Javier Tara was killed. After that, Tara laid disembodied in the Virgo Sickbay until its debriefing in 2384. Captain Stephen Maruu felt it his duty to care for Tara.

In a mission onboard the USS Luminance, Lazarus Kox was injured and the Kox symbiote was killed. Lazarus then took Tara into himself becoming Lazarus Tara.

Having ended his adventures with Captain Maruu, Lazarus Tara asked to be transferred to Starbase 901 as the new owner of the Easy Inn.

The Symbiote : Tara

A symbiote with a legacy, Tara has had five previous hosts.

  • Welton Tara was a prestigious political speaker. Welton was murdered by a group of Trill radicals who detested his ideas.

  • Harkiu Tara was a young, inspiring artist. She based all her work upon an unattainable love. Harkiu had closely followed his life and career. They had only met a handful of times in her life, they were only children on Trill at the time. Their parents had been long-time friends, but an argument pertaining to some frivolous piece of land had driven a stake between their close bond. After 10 years, Harkiu never stopped thinking of the young man. Once joined, Harkiu Tara finally had the confidence to approach her long time love, but as her transport approached the docking station. There was an incident involving an argument over a trade that went sour. Her love had been caught in the crossfire and died almost instantly. Harkiu mourned by living her lost life through producing sonnets and paintings to express the anguish felt from within. She died from what most would call "a broken heart".

  • Norinne Tara was a beautiful woman who won medals of honor in the Trill equivalent of Earth's Olympic Games. She died while making a somersault. She happened to land on her head and suffered a fatal concussion.

  • Kazro Tara was a cold, merciless assassin. He worked closely with the Dominion during the Federation/Dominion War and killed for them for a reasonable price. He was captured and executed by the Federation government for treason against the state.

  • Javier Tara was a dedicated and loyal officer. Having two joined parents pushed Javier to excel in all areas. All emphasis on success and becoming joined forced Javier to have a tendency to unwind in an extreme manner at times. Just as he thought he would never get an opportunity to have the symbiote implanted, a fatal shuttle accident during his first year at the Academy forced an emergency implant of Tara into Javier. Javier Tara was now complete. Javier fought to be a member of the elite Red Squad while attending the Academy. Finally, in his third year Javier was appointed to Chief Tactical Officer position for the Red Squad. Before his fourth year at the Academy, he was caught in a compromising situation (Security Access Required for information) and was cut from this elite group that he fought so hard to join. Javier Tara completed his fourth year at Starfleet with honors and awaited his first commission aboard the USS Virgo. After being on the USS Virgo for a few months, Javier was promoted to Chief Tactical Officer. He served with distinction until the unfortunate breaking of his neck at the hands of a possessed android named Solacetta.

Personality

Lazarus is a very fruity character. Having lost his constant entertainment rival, Lazarus is free to entertain as he pleases. Tara has made Lazarus a much more quiet and wise person than he once was, but he remains rambunctious enough to be a good Entertainment Director.
