Background

Shannon was born into a typical military family. Her father was a Marine, her mother a doctor in Starfleet. Shannon is the second oldest, she was born 2361, on Star Base 105. Her father was the company commander for the Marines stationed there. She stayed there until the age of 9. When they moved to Mars. They stayed on Mars until the Dominion War Started, Shannon was only 12, and knew what was going on. Her father was sent out to hold planets as long as possible to gain a foot hold in the early days.

Lieutenant Colonel Vansen held out on Valos II for 3 months. The battle was a see saw battle, that killed many Marines. He would be killed in the finale battle as Jem'Hadar over ran the Battlion Headquarters. She was hard hit by this, and planned to be a Marine like her father and carry on the tradition. She worked on her physical fitness from the age of 15 till she left for Starfleet Academy. While there she did extreamly well, and almost went into the infantry, but instead went into the flight training program, where she ended up being the leader of the Cadet Squadron. In 2381 she graduated a Second Lieutenant and 3rd in her class.

After graduation she went to the Jupitar Flight Range where she learned more piloting skills, and then another flight school on Mars. In 2383 She was assigned to the 58th Fighter Squadron under Major Boyle. She partook in the Barien War, and shot down three Barien Fighters, and crippled two. She was citated and promoted for her bravery.
