Ensign Parker was had graduated over six months ago from the Acadamy and was still waiting for an assignment. He felt because where he had graduated wouldn't affect his posting. He knew now he was dead wrong.
Greg was standing around Star Fleet Head Quarters seeing and hoping something would come up. He was starting to become good friends with the Command staff and junior officers.
"Ensign Parker." A voice called out to him, as he stood at a window looking at the Golden Gate Bridge. He turned to see a Lieutenant JG, wearing the red uniform.
"Yes I am Ensign Parker. What is it I can do for you?"
"Nothing except go see Captain Roberts, down the hall."
Greg made his way down the hallway and to the Captain's office. He walked in and did what he was trained to do.
"Sir Ensign Greg Parker reporting as orderd sir."
The Captain stood up and picked up a PADD and started to read it. "Ensign Parker is a fine person and officer except he didn't put much thoughts into his studies, It is my reccommendation that Ensign Parker be given an assignment other then ship service. Signed, Dean OF Starfleet Acadamy.
"Now Ensign, I'm assigning you to a post that five other Science officers have turned down. Let me say this: You can't refuse this. As of now you're a science officer on Supply Base 901. Good luck your dismissed."
The Captain handed the Ensign a PADD as he stepped out of the office.

Greg felt good but was a little unsure why five of his fellow classmates turned down the post. He sat in the garden of starfleet headquaerters and read the PADD.
After a few minutes he kenw why. Most science officers were affraid of confrataion, but not this one. Now was the time to show the Dean of the Acadamy that he was wrong. That was what Ensign Parker was living for. Right now that is.
