Greg woke up to the sound of his alarm going off. He was the only one in his quarters, his roommate had yet to arrive.
He felt pretty good. He had a few things to do for Commander Kelly, which was to chart some of the surrounding area around Supply Base 901. He believed now was the chance to show Commander Jeffreys it didn't matter where he graduated in his class.
He left his quarter's after eating some breakfast and drinking some coffee. After walking down to the turbolift he stepped into it and to his surpise he saw the other science officer.
"Morning Parker," Ensign Conner said.
"Morning. Where are you going to this morning, If I might ask?" Parker asked.
"Commander Jeffreys wants me to aid you the task of charting the surrounding space," she informed him.
Damn, he thought "Oh that's good we'll be done in no time then," he said.
The two officers made their way into the Stellar Cartography Lab and saw it was in a very horriable state of existence. Crates were stacked every where and the science equipment was not yet unpacked. The Chief Science officer had not arrived yet.
"Well looks like we have some work to do. Lets see if we can get some of the equipment set up and make a path way to the control padd that's somewhere in here," Parker said.
The two started to work on making the lab look descent. Conner set up most of the equipment while Parker got the lab's computer up and going for literally the first time.
"Your from a line of starfleet officers aren't you Parker?"
He was taken by the question and took a few seconds to respond. He sat down at the desk and started to read a PADD.
"Yes my father is an engineer at Utopia Plantia, my brother is senior OPS officer for Deep Space 3, my uncle is the XO of the Juno, and my sister is a medical officer on the Baton Rouge. So, yes, I do come from a line of star fleet officers. Why do you ask?"
Farris then gave a smile and asked something else. "What would it be like to serve under them, for you that is?"
"I don't know depends how well you know your family. What they'd be like I can't say for sure. Isn't your grandfather Admiral Conner?"
Conner wanted to change the subject now and get back into work as did Parker.
Four hours later the charting was done and complete and was ready to be given both to Commander Jeffreys and Lieutenant Commander Kelly.
The charting showed that the are some 10000 meters from the Briar Patch was extremely high in radiation and Greg made in his report that, any ship exiting the Briar Patch should have their shields raised. Other then that it was a quite area around the Supply Base 901. And it seemed to Greg that maybe this would be a boring assignement after all.
After sending the report and charts to both Commander Jeffreys and Commander Kelly, Parker walked back to his quarters and started to work on the next days reports.
