"Back to Work"

Author: Lieutenant Commander Richard Wallace
Earthdate: February 11, 2384
Location: Bridge

Richard was hard at work at his post down loading the docking records of the past month. He felt rather excited he was back to work doing something after sitting on a shuttle for over three months. He had been on 901 only a week but felt right at home. He enjoyed space station duty, however he kept looking at Lieutenant Call's station.

"All right just about finished here." Richard said out loud.

[Commander Wallace this is Doctor Carter you're to report to me ASAP. You can't avoid your medical check up anymore.]

Wallace tapped his combadge reluctantly, "All right, I'm on my way. Wallace out. Mr. Call. Could you inform Garek the reports are done. Also let him know that I had to get my check up."

"Will do Commander. I don't, know if you remember me but I remember you sir. We served together awhile back." Call said

Wallace gave a puzzled look, "Let me try and remember. I'll have to get back to you on that."

About 30 minutes later Richard walked into sickbay. He saw doctor Carter and was quickly taken with her beauty but tried not to show it.

"Hello Commander. It is about time. Take a seat on the exam table. This shouldn't take very long." Carter informed him. She scanned him with a tricorder, and went over the results quickly. Then she picked up a PADD and made a few notes and then, informed Wallace on his health. "Well everything seems good to go." She said with a smile. "And might I add for a man who's 36 you're in great health."

Richard felt little butterflies in his stomach, swallowed hard and stepped off the exam table. "Well thanks Doc, I have some reports to finish up."

Then a young man, half Bajoran, no older then 19, stepped into the sickbay wearing a cadet's uniform. "Commander Wallace?"

"Yes."

"I'm Cadet Third Class Ethan Razek. I'm here on a field tour for the next thirteen months. It appears I've been assigned to your department as your assistant." The cadet stood erect and handed a PADD to Wallace.

Wallace took the PADD and spoke to the Doctor. "It's been a privilege lieutenant." he then switched to the cadet. "Cadet with me and stay by my side. We'll talk as we move to my office."

"Yes sir."

"Listen to me and follow everything I say, and this will be your best field tour ever. I'm not a graduate of the Academy, but rather I dropped out my junior year and served for almost 15 years as enlisted. Only thing I go by the book for is writing reports, and addressing officers, but out here the book doesn't work.

"Do what I say, with out questions. Also note this. I work out every morning at 0500 hrs and in the evening at 1900hrs. I expect you to join me. Is that clear?"

Cadet Razek had smile. "Sir I'm not going to disappoint you sir."

"We'll see." Wallace said
