"By The Creek"

Author: Captain Kitty Mallory
Earthdate: April 20, 2385
Location: HoloPursuits

Kitty settled back against the tree once more after having pulled some grapes from the basket they had brought with them to HoloPursuits. She handed them to Arianna and Pikachu and watched as they walked to the creek a few feet away. The creek babbled softly and was soothing to her ears. Zac was busy making leaf and twig boats and sending them down stream. He looked cute with his pant legs rolled up to his knees, practically. His socks and shoes rested on the blanket near the picnic basket. Arianna started jumping up and down and running along the bank as another of Zac's boats traveled down the creek.

"Look! It's going!" she cried excitedly.

"Yeah," Zac replied. "And there it sinks! Guess it's time to make another one! Maybe I can find something light to be a passenger!"

"Pika! Pika!" Pikachu replied.

Zac carefully stepped out of the water and the kids began looking around on the ground. Kitty smiled and picked up the PADD she had been reading. It was an ancient Earth book that Katianna had told her about. It was more of a historical book that had been introduced to her long ago. It was all about the historical King Arthur. Kitty knew the legend. Her father had told her legend as a child and she had seen videos and such. But this book was filled with real details.

Suddenly, she heard the door to the holosuite open, then hiss shut once more. Within moments, she felt a hand on her shoulder. She looked over to see Troy take a seat beside her. He smiled, his dark eyes sparkling in the holographic sunlight that filtered through the tree branches.

"Hello there, Stranger," she smirked.

"Hello to you too," he replied, as he leaned in and kissed her. "How has the picnic been going?"

"See for yourself," she laughed softly, motioning to the kids and Pikachu.

He watched as Zac set up yet another leaf and twig boat to go down stream. The kids cheered another successful launch.

"They seem to be having a great time," he replied.

She nodded. "Definitely! I don't think Zac has once gotten out of that stream except to look for twigs and leaves!" Kitty laughed.

Tenderly, Troy put his hand on her abdomen. "And how is our other little one doing?" he asked. He suddenly felt a gentle movement under his hand.

"I think our littlest one is doing just fine," she smiled softly as she reached out and caressed his face.

He leaned and kissed her. ""Do you think the kids would miss us if we ran off behind some bushes," he whispered into her ear playfully.

"Oh, so tempting!" she replied back, kissing him tenderly. "But I'm sure we would be missed."

"Ah well... Tonight isn't so far away," he replied, with a devious glint in his eyes.

She just laughed at him softly. "I love it when you're terrible!"

He leaned over and kissed her again.

"So did you make arrangements for Marcus to watch over Soma while you attend this function with me tomorrow?" she asked casually.

"I sure did," he replied. "I wouldn't miss Laurissa's big day for anything."

"I'm sure Katianna will appreciate all of us there for her daughter too," Kitty replied.

"Just as we would appreciate her there for anything going on with our kids..." He was finally getting use to the idea that Zac and Arianna were their kids. They were raising them together.

"Hi, Troy!!" Zac called out as he finally noticed his step-dad next to his mom. "Want to see me send some of these leave boats down the stream? Arianna and I even managed to get some of these funny little cones to act as passengers!"

Kitty looked at him and smiled. "Go play," she said with a hint of laughter in her eyes.

With the exuberance of her children, he pecked her cheek and got up, racing off to be with Zac. "Sure! Go ahead and show me, buddy!" Kitty heard as she watched from her seat under the tree.
