Jayme and Nathan stood in the Halo suite at holo pursuits... Jayme touched her combadge and contacted Kassia. "Captain Alcon to Lt. Kassia."
[Kassia, here. What can I do for you, Jayme?] Kassia replied over the comm.
"Nathan and I need you to meet us in the holo suite 3 ASAP for an emergency consult." Jayme said with a sigh.
Nathan was at the far side of the room and was talking to Marcus.
[I'll be there momentarily] Kassia replied, sensing the urgency.
Within moments, her form shimmered into existence just outside the holosuite, having just called for a site to site transport. She immediately opened the door and went in.
Captain Mallory had entered the suite just before Kassia arrived and Jayme turned and had just broken contact and saw Kassia entered and paled...mumbled, "Oh shit." Not expecting that response. Kassia paused and stumbled and saw the chapel with the stain glass and sunlight androws of seats. "Surprise. Nathan and I just wanted you to be a witness."
Kassia looked around and smiled. "Oh wow!" she replied with a soft happy laugh. "You're getting married! That's wonderful!" Immediately, she went to Jayme and embraced her. "Congratulations . . ." She then took Nathan's hand. "Both of you!"
Jayme laughed, "Sorry for the scare, but we decided this morning to do it and later we can have a reception but wanted to make this official and the captain agreed to do the ceremony."
"How I could I refuse," Kitty smiled, her face positively glowing with joy for the couple, though Kassia suspected some of it was due to her growing pregnancy.
"Well, I sensed the urgency," Kassia replied. "Though I wasn't sure what the reason was. I'm glad it's this and not something else." She laughed gently, her green eyes sparkling. "And I am very honored that you asked me to be here as a witness . . ."
"I am glad you could come..hope you didn't abandon some patient." The door opened and Dr. Cherrin entered and shook Nathan's hand.
"No, no patient at that the moment," Kassia assured them. "Though, I have appointments later in the day. So for now, I'm free to be here. I wouldn't miss it . . ."
"Neither would I," Kitty replied, giving a wink. "Actually, I feel honored that you asked me to perform the ceremony. Here on the station there's no lack of priests and ministers."
"We couldn't decide on an Earth based vs. Bajoran priest...and since this is our home and Starfleet is our family we decided you were the only choice, Captain."
The door opened again and in walked a six year old with a bottle of bubbles and a wand, dressed in a long pink dress. "No ceremony is complete without a flower/bubble girl..." Jayme smiled at Kassia.
Kassia caught her breath as she looked at her daughter. "You look beautiful, Tiyanna!"
"I know!" she replied, before blowing some bubbles. "Aunt Jayme picked out my dress. I can even keep it!"
"OK, everyone is here." Nathan said. "Captain...your on." Nathan took Jaymes hand and followed the captain to the front. Dr. Cherrin and Kassia followed Tiyanna. Marcus walked last and picked Tiyanna up and held her so she could see over the top of the heads of the adults.
"There is one constant I have found in the universe and that is love. Love for our parents. Love for our children. Love for our pets . . . And love for each other. Today, we're here to celebrate the love two of our family have found together.
Nathan Fletcher and Jayme Alcon. You have come here to make a life commitment to each other. A commitment you have already made with your hearts," Kitty smiled.
"Nathan, do you take Jayme to be your wife for all the days of your life, keeping yourself only unto her?"
"I do." He said with a wink and a gentle squeeze of his hands.
"Jayme, do you take Nathan to be your husband for all the days of your life, keeping yourself only unto him?"
"I do." Jayme said with a smile.
Kitty smiled. "Then by the powers granted me by Starfleet, as Captain, I now pronounce you husband and wife. Congratulations!"
"Yea!!!" Tiyanna cried in Marcus' arms and immediately blew a bunch of bubbles.
Jayme stepped into Nathan as he took her face in his hands and kissed her long and passionately. Marcus put Tiyanna down and blew bubbles as she danced around her 'aunt and new uncle.' Jayme and Nathan separated and turned to face their guests. Nathan held Jayme in the circle of his arms. We are celebrating at Soma before opening in one hour." Nathan was wearing his dress uniform, and Jayme was wearing a long white skirt, and white vest with a dark green blouse.
"I'll be there," Kassia replied. "There's no way I would pass up on this celebration!"
"I wouldn't either," Kitty replied. "I'll be there! I'm sure Troy will put together a nice little celebration for the happy new couple!" She smiled.
"Can I stay with Aunt Jayme and Uncle Nathan?" Tiyanna asked.
Kassia laughed softly. "Oh, I don't know about that, honey . . ."
"You're invited to the celebration, sweetie." Jayme said kneeling down and hugging Tiyanna. "We will do something special before I go back on duty...I promise kiddo."
"What about Marcus! Can he watch me?" Tiyanna asked hopefully, looking up to the man she thought of as another grandfather since he had started working at Soma and he and her Uncle Troy had become good friends.
Marcus looked around, and smiled taking the little girls hand. "Uhh, sure." He hadn't spent anytime with children since Jayme had been Tiyanna's age. "If its okay with your parents. I'm off duty."
Jayme stifled a laugh and stood linking arms with Nate. She took a deep breath and held it as long as she could before breathing out...her heart was racing and she could feel it beating everywhere... "I would like to change. Maybe Kassia and Tiyanna could help me while Nate and Marcus head over to Soma and set up the celebration."
Jayme and Kassia each had one of Tiyanna's hands. Inside her quarters she walked to the replicator and said, "Glass of ice water." And when it arrived took it and walked over and took half of one of the meds she'd been given several times a day for the last several.
"How does it feel to be married?" Kassia asked.
Jayme sat at the table and rested her head in her hands and forced herself to relax. "Good." She watched Kassia's eyes and smiled standing. "Let me change and we can join the guys."
"All right," Kassia replied. "We'll be waiting here."
Ten minutes later Jayme returned wearing slacks and a sweater. She sat next to Tiyanna and put on socks and boots. "Kassia, if I'm so happy...why am I having this panic attack?"
She smiled softly. "Because it's new . . . and you've outwardly committed to being in a partnership with someone else . . . For someone used to going it alone, it's a very scary thing . . ."
"I love him..." She took a breath and sighed, "I...am...scared," she rubbed her face, "...but I don't want to go into combat without this being settled."
"I understand," Kassia replied. "And because you love him, you'll find that this path will be fulfilling . . . Mostly because you both love each other so much," Kassia smiled.
"We should be going." Jayme stood and walked over and hugged Kassia. "Thanks for being my friend."
"Always and forever," Kassia replied.
"Me too!!" piped in Tiyanna who had watched the whole exchange.
Hand in hand the three walked the halls towards the lift back up to the Promenade level and Soma. The medication was slowly relaxing her. She entered and found half of the 58th, half of the medical staff, and her Platoon and CO waiting around the edges of the bar waiting in silence until she entered then the cheers started. Marcus took his daughters hand and led her into the center of the room where he handed her off with a kiss to her husband and the band started a quiet piece which they danced to.
Kassia smiled at all the people and the sense of goodwill flooding the room. It also flowed through Tiyanna who was smiling from ear-to-ear. She saw Uncle Troy and ran off to him. Kassia made her way into the group and watched as the couple danced.
Jayme finished the first dance and watched as others paired off and started dancing. Nathan caught her in a hug and after a long kiss, asked, "What's the matter?"
"Why do you think there's something wrong?" Jayme asked.
"You're pale, and I could feel your heart pounding though two layers of clothing." He said, backing her against the bar.
"Love, is what's happening." She levered herself up onto the stool and leaned against the bar. With a smile she wrapped her legs around his holding him near. She could see he wasn't buying it... "A panic attack, and yes, I took meds while changing at home. Kassia suspected I was havingone so its no secret. How long are we obligated to stay here? And do you have plans for tonight?
"Several hours. And yes, I have made plans for tonight." He said kissing her.
Troy managed to grab Kitty for a dance around the floor. "How was the wedding?" he asked.
Kitty smiled. "Well, since I performed it, I would have to say it was perfect!" She laughed softly. Just then she caught sight of Zac and Arianna just finding Tiyanna. The kids immediately set to playing.
"Did Zac and Arianna help with the decorating?" she asked.
"Of course!" Troy smiled. "They're some of the best decorators I know . . . But you're better, of course." With that, he leaned in and kissed her.
The party continued until after opening hours, when the happy couple left. Nathan walked Jayme to the Marine holo suite where several coconspirators had programmed a honey moon setting and had set up lock outs to only Nathan's voice print. Once inside he said, "Computer initiate program Fletcher 10A, lock out on my voice print." Turning he smiled, at Jayme who noted that several tote bags were waiting on a large canopy bed, a tub filled with water waited in a corner opposite a table with a bottle of Champaign and food. "This is ours complements of the Colonel for 24 hrs, Mrs. Fletcher."
