Lt Keung Lee, Chief Security Officer of the USS Eagle was not a happy bunny at the moment. One moment the shuttlepod had been following a freighter manned by suspected Orion pirates and the next, space had turned into a kaleidoscope of lights and the shuttlepod was buffered by energy waves. Lee had not known anything like it and he was desperately trying to control the shuttlepod as it flew rollarcoasterly through what Lee could only interpret as a corridor of flashing lights. All he attempting to do was to keep the shuttepod from falling apart. Unknown to Lee and the other occupants, the shuttlepod had flown into a wormhole.
Beside him holding onto her seat was Alicia Davies and behind them struggling to keep in their seats, were security officers Lockhart and Gibson. Sparks were flying from the control panels and the on board lights were flickering on and off. There were strong burning smells as cables were burning. "Engines are overheating" screamed Alicia. "If we don't get out soon, the engines will blow!! Environmental systems are failing."
Lee could just about see the instruments that Alicia was attempting to look atThe heat in the cabin was beginning to grow hotter! Lee's hands were straining as he fought with the control stick and sweat poured off his face. Although they were all wearing environmental suits, it wasn't helping and the helmets were rolling around on the deck!!
The communication panels explored and the flying debris struck Lockhart in the head killing him instantly. Gibson grabbed the fire extinguisher and trying to put the fire out. Another panel burst into flames. Smoke filled the cabin. Through the mayhem, Alicia tried to grab her helmet but a shockwave turned the shuttepod on its back and she fell out of her seat..knocking herself out. Gibson fell against the burning panels and was electrocuted.
Lee was still struggling concentrating on trying to get the shuttlepod to fly properly and totally unaware of what happened to his colleagues.
It felt like forever when to Lee's surprise, the shuttlepod out of the wormhole and into normal space. There was absolutely no movement but that didn't help the situation in the cabin. The lights had gone out and the interior was lit up flames burning from the circuits and the air was filled with acid smoke. Coughing and tears in his eyes, Lee turned in his seat to look at the unconscious Alicia beside him! It was difficult to breath as the life support systems were failing. He needed to find his helmet and find's Alicia helmet.
At that moment, Lee spotted the chronometer and noticed the date. Unless he was mistaken, the shuttlepod had flown 100 years into the future!! A tinge of fear struck Lee. "It's happening again" he thought, as he coughed and wheezed before the fumes overwhelmed Lee into unconsciousness....
