Jayme and Nathan sat in her living room and looked around. "Well, we can sit down and make a list of the positives and negatives for each place." Jayme said looking at the problem...
"Well, I don't know. I spend most of my time here -- it makes sense that I just move what little bit of personal belongings I have here." Nathan said taking a sip of his coffee.
"But your place is larger and more centrally located." Jayme said gesturing with her right hand.
Nathan shook his head, and set his cup down, "and what? You're going to hall 25 plus kilograms of pack while wearing your combat gear through the station every time you get called up? It makes sense for you to keep this place and me move in...unless you don't want me to move in?" He stood and paced, then with a sigh looked at her, and said, "sorry. I know you want to be together."
"Nathan. We can keep this place...its just that it is Marine country."
"So?" He asked sitting beside her.
Jayme looked up at him, and looked around, "maybe the Colonel can authorize a permanent pass for you...I don't know. She ran her fingers through her hair and rubbed her eyes. "I can't think right now, I'm so tired." She said looking at him.
"Why would the Colonel have to approve this? We've practically been living together for four months."
"We're not married, Nathan. He's looked the other way but that's because it hasn't been a permanent arrangement."
"The Colonel is a good man, he hasn't made any issue of this because we're good for one another. Jayme, you're tired and if living together and being unmarried is a problem -- then marry me!"
You know those long blinks where you know that time has stopped and restarted, was what she experienced when he said those three little words. "Run that by me again?" She said turning.
He took both her hands and slid down onto one knee and faced her, "Marry me?" He watched as a smiled teased the corners of her mouth. "I'm serious and was going to ask you before you head out on your next assignment."
"Yes, I'll marry you Nathan. She leaned in and hugged him. He picked her up and carried her into the bedroom where he had Champagne chilling.
