It was 36hrs into the virus and Jayme had been working in the lab with the science team, when she was making a slid to work on under the electron microscope and sliced her hand with a sharp piece of glass and found herself bleeding. She immediately went to the sink and washed her hand and bandaged it. She decided to take a break and stopped and sat in the lounge and ate a few more of the chocolate covered strawberries she'd used to seduce Nathan earlier... She stood after a few minutes her heart racing she was sweaty and jumpy and blew it off to a normal reaction to the stimulant shots she'd been given by Kassia every few hours since they discovered that it helped block the virus from overwhelming the mind.
She walked out of the lounge and watched Nathan for a few moments before walking over to where he had just finished checking on a patient who'd been assaulted in a the Promenade bar. "Nathan," she said quietly walking over and running her hands up the inside of his scrub top, "I need to see you."
Nathan smiled and loved the feel of her hands on him but the middle of the sickbay wasn't right. With his hands on her arms he walked/danced her over to an empty corner, but made eye contact
"I hate to be a party-pooper, but we really don't have time for that right now . . ." Kassia said. "Jayme, how are you feeling?" she asked. Suspecting that the stimulants were wearing off already.
"I'm fine, just taking a little break and visiting with my husband, and if you shoot me with that stimulant again my head will explode..." She nuzzled Nathan's neck while her hands ran over his chest.
He tried to pull away but when he did it just made her even more needy looking. He rested on hand on her jaw and then slid it down and rested it on her neck and found her pulse racing. "Jayme, I love you and think you need to go take a nap."
"Stay away from me Kassia." She saw the woman nod her agreement with Nathan's subtle suggestion as to what to do,. but was shocked by the irrational edge to Jayme's voice and her order.
"Jayme, you're not yourself . . . You obviously need rest," Kassia said as calmly as possible. There was absolutely no way she could risk giving Jayme another dose of the stimulant. She was sensing Nathan's thoughts and feeling Jayme's body's reactions. Her heartbeat was racing. She knew that the only other thing to do was to sedate her friend if she didn't listen to reason, though she didn't want to do that unless absolutely necessary.
Jayme looked directly at Kassia and said with a wicked little laugh, "Didn't I tell you to go away?"
"Jayme, I can't go away. I need Nathan's help . . . We have sick children to treat among other people who keep wandering in," she said.
Jayme shrugged and on her tiptoes kissed Nathan passionately for a long while and finally she broke and sucked in a breath, He noticed that she had a bandage on her hand, and asked, "What happened to your hand." He caught it and looked at it as he backed her against the wall.
"I cut it in the lab." She said, and then added, "I cleaned it and its fine. But if you want to look at something she laughed and with both hands started to peel her scrub top off in one quick fluid motion. He wrestled with her for a minute and then got a hold of her face and kissed her to distract her...
Kassia grabbed another hypospray filled with a tranquilizer and began to move toward Jayme. She was going to have to tranq her. She didn't have a choice.
Out of the corner of her eye she spotted Kassia within arms length she shoved Nathan away from her and with an elbow strike hit Kassia and she ran for the door but on her way to it Corran stepped out of a side treatment area where the kids slept.
"Corran! Grab Jayme! Hold her down!" Kassia called out.
Immediately he grabbed her.
Jayme screamed when his hands grabbed her by the arm and stopped her only a few meters short of the exit, and screamed and dropped into combat mode and the fight was impressive to those who stopped to watch. Jayme'd broken his grip and with several good strikes looked to be wining when he got her arm again and pulled it back into a high lock behind her back which dropped her to her knees with pain. With her other hand she tried to strike him and she was ignoring the pain and trying to free herself when Piccolo moved in to restrain her free arm and with both men maintaining their grips took her to the deck on Corran kneeled on her shoulder and Piccolo her lower back and legs. Nathan moved in with a tricorder and looked at Kassia and said, "No, don't give her a stimulant."
"I wasn't planning to," Kassia said. "I could feel her emotions and hear body before now . . . I have a tranq ready to go."
She stepped up to Jayme. "You'll feel better later," she said to her friend as she administered the tranquilizer, hoping the cure was found soon.
Jayme even with the two men who kept her arms restrained and were kneeling on her she wiggled and fought to free herself, screaming at them and at Nathan to get them off of her..."Damnit, I'm fine!" She felt the hypospray but continued to fight and yell.
"I'll have to up the dose on the tranq," Kassia said, readying the hypospray once again. "She's too hyped up to respond to what I gave her." She looked at Nathan's concerned face.
Suddenly Jayme decided to change tactics and relaxed completely in her captives arms. She closed her eyes and totally quieted her breathing. She felt Piccolo relax and finally release her lower body and Corran maintained his arm lock but with a nod to Piccolo they rolled her over so that she was sitting up leaning against Corran. Her head lolled to the side.
"Hold her firmly, guys," Kassia said. "She's still awake and I need to give her this next dose."
Jayme heard that Kassia wasn't fooled and ignoring her shoulder whipped around and planted a hard kiss on Corran. She felt the hypospray through her shirt on the arm that Corran contained. She broke the kiss off and glared at Kassia and said, "You shouldn't have done that..." A moment later Jayme relaxed and this time both Kassia and Corran knew that she was unconscious.
Kassia sighed with a shake of her head. "I was hoping it wouldn't have come to that . . . One friend tranquilized is enough . . ." she said thinking about Katianna, who was still being kept sedated with Paul by her side.
Between Nathan and Corran they moved her to the empty biobed by Katianna. He immediately looked at the scan of his unconscious wife and shook his head. "Corran are you Okay? He asked looking at the other Marine.
"Yes," he replied. "Just taken by surprise."
Kassia scanned him and noted that he was still resistant to the virus and sighed. "You're still clear. No sign of the virus."
"Good." Nathan said recording the amount of tranq that Kassia had given Jayme...and shook his head. "This amount would keep most people down for days Kassia. But with her who knows; I'm going to use a forcefield and keep her restrained.
"It might be a good idea," she said. "Between the stimulants and the virus, there's no telling how long the tranq will work on her . . . Though I'm hopeful that it will keep her down for a while. She needs to rest . . . The stimulants were taking their own toll on her."
Nathan kissed her and then activated the forcefield and noticed that Corran had gone back to see the children. Nathan checked on Katianna and Paul said, "I'll keep an eye out on her, commander."
"Thanks, Paul." Nathan walked over and checked the three people who entered during the chaos and found them to have minor injuries and treated them with the stimulant and order them to their quarters. He saw that Kassia was walking towards the lab...
