"Commander," Lieutenant Commander Nevar Pol said, as he looked over to Garek Loran.
"Commander," Garek replied. He pulled a PADD out of one of the cargo pockets in his engineer's pants. "I've been reviewing the schematics for the Bounty. Her weapons systems have been scaled down, to say the least. I've had my engineers install a rudimentary phaser array on the dorsal saucer section, and a torpedo launcher in one of the aft cargo bays. It's not much, but it should give you a little more protection. I've also taken the liberty of getting your perminant quarters assigned." Garek handed the PADD over to Pol. "The quarters are in Section 1 along with the other senior staff. They should be to your liking."
"I appreciate that," Pol replied. "I kept bumping my head every time I sat up in the crewman's bunks."
Garek grinned. "Been there before. Mr. Call, Dr. Carter, Ms. Nugent and Mr. Razek are already on the Bounty."
"Very well." Pol and Garek continued till they reached the turbolift, and both entered. There was an awkward moment of silence before Pol continued. "What is your opinion of Commander Wallace?"
Somewhat surprised, Garek looked at the ever-so-slightly taller chief of security. "Well, I've known Rich from the USS Virgo and have always found him to be a capable officer. He often referred to his times onboard space stations while on the Virgo and how he longed to get back to one."
"Hmm," Pol thought to himself.
"I've also heard about your bid for command of the Arizona. The real question is what do you think of me?" Garek looked at him. At that moment, the turbolift door opened, breaking the silence between the two.
"Later Commander." Pol made his way to the causeway that led to the docked Bounty. Garek shook his head, and made his way to his office, and the docking bay for the Lambda Flier.
As Garek rounded the corner to his office, Woodrow Murphy was already standing in front of his office. "Don't you think o' 100 hours is too early for a mission?" Woodrow asked as Garek tapped the security clearence to his office and stepped through the door.
"I guess the reasoning is that only a skeleton crew will be awake on Son'a ships if they do catch us." Garek shrugged. "At least, that's the only thing I can think of." A door on the side of his office opened, revealing the large docking bay that housed the Lambda Flier.
"Wow," Woodrow commented upon seeing the Flier. "I read over the schematics on the ship, but never really saw it. I thought it was smaller."
"It's classified as "shuttle" but don't let the designation fool you," Garek replied as he walked towards the rear egress hatch. The door rolled open while a ramp came down. "This craft will out preform just about any shuttle currently in use by Starfleet. Lowering his voice, he also commented, "It'll even beat the crap out of Tom Paris' Delta Flier without second thought." As both walked up and into the shuttle, the ramp folded in, and the door slid close behind them. Garek and Woodrow made their way past the small cargo/living area and into the main command compartment.
"Leather?" Woodrow asked.
"I'll comment on that later," Garek replied. He brought the internal systems online. Woodrow took a seat to his right in the co-pilot's seat. The space doors infront of the Flier opened, revealing the docking bay. "Docking control, this is Lambda Flier requesting departure clearence." Garek brought the Lambda Flier into a hover, and retracted the landing skids. He then powered the craft forward through the MAGCON field and into the docking bay. As he moved forward, he wove inbetween a pair of shuttles, and overflew the Arizona. There were some engineers in space suits still working on the hull by the evident flashes from plasma torches. The hull was being retrofitted to accomidate all of the modern technology that would be placed in her.
Finally, Garek pulled the craft around and brought it in front of the Bounty. The running lights were on, with most of the crew quarter lights still off, indicating that the colonists were still onboard the station. "Figures. Just when you want to leave, everyone rushes to go to the bathroom."
"Excuse me sir?" Woodrow commented.
"Just something my dad always used to say," Garek commented.
[Lambda Flier, this is docking control. You have permission to leave the station as soon as the Bounty is ready. Good luck Commander.]
"Thank you docking control. Lambda Flier out.
[Lambda Flier, this is Bounty.] It was Commander Pol.
"Yes Bounty? Flier here."
[We're just about ready to depart. Go ahead and proceed, we'll be right behind you.]
"Understood. Flier out." Garek closed the communications channel. "Very well Mr. Murphy. Plot course for "New Canada," full impulse." The Lambda Flier cleared the docking bay and proceeded on course.
"Actually Commander," Woodrow replied. "I'd like to stay behind and work on the Arizona." Garek gave him an odd look.
"Away missions are great, but I really want to get the Arizona to work."
"To get "Brownie Points" with Commander Wallace?" Garek gave him a grin.
"You put it so eloquently sir." Woodrow smiled.
"Alright, go ahead."
"Thank you Commander." Woodrow made his way to the aft compartment, and a signal went off in the cockpit indicating that Woodrow had beamed over to the Arizona.
Alright, I'll fly this one alone then. Garek brought the nimble shuttlecraft through the space doors of the bay, and out in to the red and orange plasma swirls of the Briar Patch. The Bounty was soon to follow. Next stop: "New Canada."
