The Talon dropped from transwarp. Location: Outskirts of the Briar Patch. The recent distress signal that came from the SS Mystique troubled Jacen Klevin. He was a former associate with Amelia Donaghy's former captain. Sufficive to say, when Jack Dawson died, so did the contract between the two. This meeting docking at the station, however, was not just a social call. There were other matters to be addressed.
Martha stepped on to the bridge. Jacen Klevin was already sitting in the Captain's chair while Hobbes was at the helm. Other personnel were swarming around different panels, making sure that the tempermental systems of the Talon were operating at peak efficiancy. "Briar Patch. Of all places, we had to come here?"
"Now, now," Jacen replied. "Supply Base 901 is the only outpost around here were we can trade for goods." He gave a lopsided smile. Martha shook her head.
"Getting a signal from one of the guidance beacons," Hobbes added. "It looks like the start of a small network. Should take us towards the upper portions of the patch and the station."
"Very well." Jacen stood up from his seat. "Take us in, three quarter impulse. I'll be in the library." Jacen made his way towards the rear of the bridge, and then down the hallway towards the Library.
The 'Library' wasn't so much a library, but Jacen's personnel information depot onboard. Only he had access to the information in this room on the vessel. It contained information on most races, planets, ships, and people for that matter in the galaxy. One thing that you needed to have in this buisness was information. It led to advantage over your enemies, and the occasional opportunity to blackmail someone for something you needed. Jacen sat down at the only computer terminal, and began to access information from the rows of PADDs that were plugged in to a central computer column in the room. The information he needed then began to scroll down the screen.
"Name: Commander (newly promoted Captain) Richard Wallace
Distinguished Starfleet veteran. Decorated for multiple battles including Dominion and Borg campaigns. Served on multiple vessels. First command position. Known to be a stern leader. Smart and educated leader."
Interesting. Someone to watch for.
"Name: Lieutenant Commander Garek Loran
Young officer. Ascended ranks quicker then anticipated by teachers at Starfleet Academy. Considered a very talented engineer after the discovery of tridanium armor plating and modified transwarp drive systems. Competed leader, however, has not been gaven a command of his own. Laid back and quiet."
The opposite to Mister Wallace. I still shouldn't have that much of a problem getting the information I need. "Hobbes?"
<Yes boss?>
"How much time untill re reach 901?"
<Around half an hour.>
"Alright. Thank you." Jacen went back to reading.
Scene: SB 901...
"Another ship coming in sir," Ensign Kalvin called out.
"Another?" Wallace asked. "On screen." The viewscreen activated revealing and old, battered bulk transport. "Can you get an identification?"
"Transponder code identifies as the SS Mercury Child. Appears to be a standard Bajoran freighter. They're hailing." Commander Nevar looked up from his panel.
<Hello. This is Captain Klevin of the Mercury Child. My crew and I have been on preforming cargo runs all over this area of space, and need some rest and relaxation. May I request that we dock for a few days to receive some repairs and enjoy the stores and shops your station has to offer?>
"Mute channel," Wallace said. Kalvin nodded, and the channel went silent. "Garek, do we have enough recources to make repairs to his vessel?"
"Depends on the severity of the damage," Garek replied. He looked at one of his panel's terminal at the transport orbiting the station. "Hmm... Looks like his ship has seen some battle." He did a quick scan of the vessel. "I'm not detecting any major damage to his ship besides some dented ship panels and shield irregularities. Shouldn't be that much of a problem."
"I still reccommend that his ship be inspected by a security team," Pol added.
"Very well. Don't make it look like a security sweep though. You and maybe two others do a simple sweep." Wallace looked over to the Chief of Security.
"Yes sir," Pol replied.
"Re-open channel." The channel opened again. "Captain Klevin, you have clearence to dock at Berth 3, Commerce Pylon 2. We will also have an engineering team make the minor repairs needed to your vessel if you want."
<You're most gracious Captain. Thank you for your time. Mercury Child out.> The channel closed.
Scene: Talon...
"Standard Starfleet Security procautions," Jacen ordered to the crew. Through a special program, he was able to de-mute the channel and hear what Captain Wallace was saying to his crewmembers. "Hobbes, be sure to use the sensor maskings this time. I don't want to have to explain every detail of the vessel to someone like we had to do at Carentor III."
"Sure thing. Sorry about that one boss." Hobbes began setting to work.
"No need. You apologized before, you don't need to do it again." Jacen looked around the bridge. "Alright. Let's not make ourselves troublesome to the people of the station. From the reports we have, this station is still undermanned. Don't cause problems." Hobbes smiled at him. "Especially you." Jacen grinned.
The Talon glided forward and extended the docking tube. The tube from both spacecraft extended to each other and connected. The umbilical supports soon followed, and the Talon, AKA: Mercury Child docked and came to a stop. "Docked boss."
"Very well. I'll check up with Amelia and then talk to Captain Wallace. In the meantime, all off duty personnel can go and enjoy the station." Jacen walked towards the rear of the bridge, and took his black trench coat off a hook in the bulkhead. Martha followed, and the two made their way off of the bridge.
Scene: SB 901...
"Captain Wallace," Jacen said, stepping forward. He had a smile on his face, and extended his hand.
"Mr. Klevin," Wallace replied. He shook the older man's hand. "Welcome to Supply Base 901."
"Thank you. I'd like to thank you again for letting us stop by. I really do appreciate the offer of repairs. We haven't had the opportunity to put into a port in a very long time."
"Not a problem," Wallace replied. A small smile ran across his face. "I am going to have to ask that a standard security sweep be performed on your ship while you're here."
Jacen looked over his shoulder to see four gold uniformed Starfleet personnel carrying different pieces of equipment. "No problem Captain. As long as I can get use of your Sickbay."
"Of course. Might I ask what for?"
"Actually, it's more for medical supplies. We're running low on some basic medicines and drugs, and we need a resupply."
"You can talk to the stations doctor and see what he has to spare."
"Thank you Captain." Jacen smiled. "If you don't mind, I have a lot to do and some people to meet."
"Oh, no, of course." Wallace motioned for him to move on. Jacen nodded, and headed off with Martha following him. Hobbes stepped forward.
"Captain Wallace, Captain Klevin instructed me that I'm to show the security team throughout the ship while they conduct their sweeps. We have numerous cargo holds, and they're nearly as complicated as a maze."
Wallace looked over at Nevar who nodded in reply. "Very well. I leave these gentlemen in your hands Mister..."
"Hobbes. Calvin Hobbes Captain." Hobbes smiled.
Scene: Sickbay...
"Doctor Cherrin?" Jacen asked, upon entering Sickbay.
Alistair poked his head out from his office. "Yes?" He rose from the chair he was sitting on, and walked into the main treatment area. "Can I help you?"
"I believe so." Jacen greeted him with a warm smile. "Captain Wallace told me to see you about attaining medical supplies."
"Really?" Cherrin asked, somewhat confused. "Well, exactly what kind of materials do you need?"
"My associate Martha has all of the necessities. She can give you a list."
"Alright..." He looked over to Martha who gave him a warm smile.
"Doctor, I suggest we go see your store room. I have a long list." She pulled a PADD out of her pocket with a long list of medical supplies. "Lead the way."
He nodded, and extended his hand indicating for her to follow. As they left Jacen made his way over to the bedside of Amelia Donaghy. He picked up her hand and stroked it trying to wake her up. Eventually, her eyes opened. "Hello again."
"Oh great..." she murmured. "It's you..."
"It's nice to see you remembered me. I heard you had a nasty spill with the Romulans."
"Why am I not surprised," Amelia replied. "You seem to know everything."
"Knowledge is..."
"... 'the one true weapon.' Yeah, yeah." She rolled her eyes. "So, why have you tracked me down to the station? If it's about that latinum..."
"No, no. We have a bigger problem."
"Really? What would that be?"
"Keldon."
"Keldon? Oh please," she laughed quietly. "That Andorian? He's nothing but a pain in the rear."
Jacen smiled softly. "Agreed. I've learned that he has stolen some Section 31 cloning tanks though."
Her eyes narrowed. "You're joking."
Jacen shook his head solemnly. "I'm afraid not. The other problem is that he's sold some of them to the Son'a. I'm only asking you one thing. Pleasebe careful, and to watch the Son'a. As always, please relay the information back to me when you have the opportunity."
She sighed. "Alright. As long as you do me a favor."
"Of course."
"Don't get me involoved with the business anymore. I'm doing this as a personal favor to you."
"And believe me, I appreciate it." He patted her hand. "I'll leave you alone now. Get better. I also want to see the Mystique up to running order as well. I hope Monica is doing well."
"She is," Amelia replied. "She is." She then drifted off to sleep. Jacen smiled, and made his way to the middle of the ward just as Martha and Doctor Cherrin returned.
"Doctor Cherrin has agreed to supply us with most of the medicines and supplies we need," Martha said.
"It shouldn't be a problem," Cherrin added. "We're pretty well stocked up here."
"Believe me doctor, I appreciate it." Jacen smiled. "If you need anything, don't hesitate to contact the ship. Believe me, when I say anything, I mean anything."
"I'll keep that in mind Mr. Klevin." Cherrin handed Jacen the PADD that Martha had orginally with his signature and approval of supply transfers. "I hope this will provide you with enough medical equipment until you can put in to port for a more perminant supply."
"Doctor, you can't believe the help you've given us. I, along with the rest of my crew will greatly appreciate it." Jacen and Martha shook his hand, and they made their way out of the Sickbay.
