"Relocation"

Author: Lieutenant Commander Garek Loran
Earthdate: March 29-30, 2384
Location: New Canada

"Shuttle Lawrence calling Supply Base 901. Come in please." Garek left the Arizona with a skeleton crew over New Canada in case the Son'a decided to bring in some more of their friends. On his flight back to the station in the Lawrence, Garek quickly ran through ideas in his head. He's crazy. Garek often thought to himself. Captain Wallace wanted the station orbiting over New Canada within three days. It took him nearly a day in transit to the station in the small Type 9 shuttle. This was surely going to be interesting.

[Supply Base 901 acknowledges Lawrence.] It was Lieutenant Nugent.

"Le'Chell, we've got some problems."

[How did I know you were going to say that?] Le'Chell let out a sigh over the intercom. [We've got some problems as well. Amelia Donaghy escaped.]

Garek shook his head. "We'll deal with that later. There's more important things that need to be done."

[Like what?]

"Captain Wallace wants me to move the station over New Canada within three days." Garek entered the docking bay and was setting the shuttle down. "Have the station go to red alert, and fire up the manuevering thrusters. Start moving the station towards New Canada."

[I'm on it. Nugent out.] The channel closed. Garek rose from the seat of the chair, and made his way out of the shuttle. He started jogging and eventually made his way up to the bridge.

"Status?" Garek asked he stepped on to the bridge

"We're moving," Le'Chell replied. "Somewhat... We're heading towards New Canada at nearly one quarter impulse, steadily increasing."

"It's a start," Garek conceeded. "Not fast enough though." He ran through a mental checklist of possibilities in his head in order to speed up the station. "In order to get us really moving, we'd have to create a warp field. This thing is to large in order to do that. I wonder....." Garek made his way over to the engineering console and began accessing it. He then contacted engineering. "Bring the matter/antimatter reactor online, and bring it up to 105 percent."

[Aye sir,] an engineer replied.

"One hundred five percent?" Le'Chell asked. "I thought that you were never supposed to go past 100 percent on a matter/antimatter reactor unless you're in times of war."

"We might just have that if we can't get this thing over New Canada." Garek looked over his shoulder to Le'Chell. She had a slightly worried look on her face.

[M/A Reactor is online and getting up to 105 percent sir.]

"Very well, Bridge out." Garek closed the channel and looked at one of his monitors as the energy output began to increase.

"What are you thinking?" Le'Chell asked.

"Well, it's kinda simple." Garek looked over his shoulder to make sure he held Le'Chell's attention and then continued. "We can't manuever this space station at warp speeds to New Canada. The structural integrity field just isn't strong enough. It will, however, support the station if it went through a wormhole."

Le'Chell smiled. "Good idea. How are you planning to do that though?"

"That's the problem," Garek commented. "I'm working on that. Back at the Academy, part of the Warp Theory classes were wormholes as a method of transportation. One of the theories was to create a stable wormhole for a miniscule percent of time that would allow a ship to transport rapidly in space using only a little of fuel. The only problem with this was that either A: The ship wasn't big enough to produce enough energy, or B: The ship broke up while in the wormhole during a simulation.

Technically speaking, the base should be able to support itself if I were to create this wormhole. The only problem is trying to get the station over New Canada and not in the Delta Quadrant or something." Garek sighed, and then looked at one of the viewscreens. "If I can divert enough power to the deflector shield grid, phaser and shield systems, and the structural integrity field." He quickly began tapping commands in to the computer console. "What I'm going to try to do is use the shield and transporter grid in conjunction with the phaser array to try and create a wormhole towards the coordinates of New Canada. The only thing to do after that would be test it. Garek loked at Le'Chell and Le'Chell looked back.

"Don't look at me," Le'Chell commented. "I'm not going to fly a shuttle out there in to this wormhole you're creating."

Garek grinned. "How can I argue with that?" With a few last commands, the phaser fired an odd, bluish/purpleish light and the beam broke up as it continued. A wormhole then apeared. Garek quickly launhed a probe in to the wormhole. The probe began to send back information on its location. Apparently, Garek was right. The wormhole ended somehwere near a planet close to New Canada, but still not good enough. "Close, but no cigar." He began to make some more calculations. Once again, another wormhole was made, and a probe launched. This attempt was closer then the last, but still too far away.

Garek worked through the night attempting to perfect the procedure. The time was currently around 0300 hours, and he had been working through the night to perfect this form of transportation. Garek checked the power supply which showed that the M/A reactor was still working at around 105 percent, but the matter reserves would have to be replenished soon, which meant trying to figure out how to install a Bussard Ramscoop on to a space station. One last time, Garek plotted the coordinates in to the targeting systems, and fired. He then sent out a probe. His eyes then lit up at the data he was receiving. The probe was sitting in an orbit above New Canada. "Yes!" Garek yelled out, to the startled reactions of the night shift around him.

"Red Alert!" he yelled out. Raise shields, and engage manuevering thrusters. Take us through that wormhole! The shuttle lurched forwards and began heading slowly towards the manufactured wormhole. It would only remain open for a short period of time, and Garek didn't want to try to manufacture another one. There wasn't enough fuel to do so. Soon enough, the station was being bounced back and forth in the unstable wormhole that had been created. He watched throught the viewports as the swirls of blue and purple passed by and eventually, they faded into nothingness as the station emerged over New Canada. Off in the distance was the Arizona, orbiting over the colony.

"SB901 to Arizona, come in." Garek looked at the viewscreen.

[Arizona, here sir,] came a reply from the ensign currently in command of the skeleton crew.

"Bring yourself in to dock. You've been relieved." Garek smiled.

[Yes sir. Heading in now.] The Arizona began to accelerate and made it's way towards the station. Now, Garek sat waiting for a reply from Captain Wallace.
