"Looking for Life"

Author: Captain Richard Wallace
Earthdate: April 5, 2384
Location: USS Darwin

The deck was dark, and a royal mess. There was collapsed bulk heads, and parts from other systems of the ship strewn all over. A fire was burning down the hall way giving a lit bit of a glow. Wallace looked at his four man team, and pulled out a flash light and tricorder. He then scanned behind and and up front.

"Spread out, life signs are about 23 meters ahead." Richard said walking forward and first.

He walked 20 meters, and found the life sign he had picked up. The person was trapped under a piece of debris.

The medic was an old veteran from many a fight. He scanned and then gave an injection.

"Human male 25, collapsed lung, and bruised ribs, concussion." The medic informed the Captain.

"Alright we'll free him and then beam him aboard. The sick bay on the Arizona." Wallace and a Lieutenant from Engineering pulled the bulk head off. The wounded man was a officer, and wore a gold uniform. He was beamed off, and the team moved foward. The away team found two more badly injured crew members, and beamed them to the Arizona sickbay.

Captain Wallace made the walk to the jeffries tube, and scanned in front of it.

"Sir, the Darwin's life support will fail in 31 minutes. I suggest we move faster." A young ensign said.

"Alright then lets get to it."Wallace said opening up the jefferies tube. Inside it was dark and very cold, which made the young crew wounder why it was colder then on deck two. "Well the deck's damage is very hard to estimate we can't see very well. According to the many ships I've been on. Jefferies tubes have no environmental controls for temperature, when hull breaches are on deck three." Wallace talking made the climb less of a work out then it seemed. They reached the bridge after 11 minutes.

The bridge was rather a shambles, however a few bridge stations had some power. The replicator had started a plasma fire , that burned most of the decks walls. Power cuplings were dangling from the celling, and a moan was herd. The medic went over by the Helm, and pulled a piece of the deck plate off.

"Sir, here is one. not in bad shape. Just bumps and bruises, and some malnutrion.. And a broken leg."

Wallace walked over and shined his light on the injured person. He was looking for command level officers, and his friend.

The wounded person was a female Lieutenant JG, and wore blue. She seemed to be Bajoran. Richard then walked over to the command chair which was still standing, and covered by deck plates, he scanned and saw a faint life sign.

"Help me doc." Wallace pulled a piece of the bulk head off, and then shined his light. He saw the person had Lieutenant Pips, and a red uniform.

"He's a priorty, Captain, his spleen, and lung need repair, and he needs some blood." The medic said. Tapping his comm badge.

Richard was told to come to the tactical display where the third injured crew was. The third crewman, was a Chief Warrant officer, wearing gold. His injuries were not that bad. After the injured were beamed back to the Arizona, Captain Wallace went to work, trying to get some of the ship's systems up. And download some of the tactical logs to the Arizona.

"Mister Kelly beam me into the Arizona sick bay.. And extend our shields around the Darwin, and lock on a tractor beam."

[Aye aye sir]

Once Richard was on the Arizona sickbay he went over to the EMH, Mark 1. That was filling in for Cherrin.

"Doctor, are any of the injured able to talk?"

"I am sure that one is and that one. If they are willing I don't know. If you excuse me ."

Richard walked over to the Female Lieutenant sitting up, drinking something.

"Thank you Captain."She said as Wallace walked towards her.

"Is Commander Waters alive?"

"I don't know. I remember a explosion, and then, smoke. and now I am here." She started to cry.

"Easy Lieutenant...."

"Lieutenant Kila, ships Chief Science officer." She said wipping her tears off with the blanket on her.

"This was my fault. I gave the order, for Waters to help." Wallace said bowing his head in shame.

He had never expected the feeling of gult like this before. He took a deep breath, and Nugant seemed to of walked in at that moment.

"Sir Lieutenant Quinn, was the ships helm officer. When Commander Lopek, was killed... Waters told Quinn to take the bridge, at that moment a Son'a torpedo hit the deflector array." The injured chief said, looking at the Captain.

"Sir Commander Kelly wishes to see you on the bridge."Nugent said, tapping Wallace on the shoulder.

Dazed by the result of his order. Richard turned and walked out of the Sickbay.
