"I'll be damned." Garek rose from the command chair to see the Mystique occupying the forward viewport. "Open a communications channel immediatly!"
"She's not acknowledging sir. She's making a run for it." The ensign at operations looked up from his console at Garek who was standing infront of the command chair. The Mystique accelerated, and began to make a slingshot manuever around the sun and out of the system.
"Figures." Garek looked around the bridge. "Alright, let's get everything back to normal. Ensign Forestal, you have the bridge." Garek made his way to the rear turbolift, and departed the Bridge.
As he continued down the promenade, he looked out the viewports to see the colony of New Canada below him. The station was in a geosynchinous orbit above New Canada. The Briar Patch appeared as a spec off in the distance, but clearly visible. He finally came upon the store Katia's Cave of Curiosities and Mystery. He entered the store to find that trinkets from all over the galaxy. He quickly noticed some as being Betazoid, but things from other races such as Bolian and Bajoran. He noticed something on one of the top shelves and made a reach for it. Unfortunately, it was just out of reach.
"Can I help you?" Garek spun around to see a shorter, but stunning female. Her green eyes bore a whole into his.
"That's alright, I can get it." Garek turned his head and looked at the object on the top shelf. Slowly, almost cautiously, the obeject lifted off of the top shelf and floated down into his hands.
"I've never seen a Betazoid do anything like that before." She was somewhat stunned.
~How did I know I was a Betazoid?~ Garek asked mentally.
~Intuition,~ she replied, with a small smile. She made her way past him deeper into the store. ~By the way, that's a Cardassian fertility idol that you're holding.~
Garek blushed slightly, and noticed a Cardassian customer in the store give him a grin. Garek smiled, and mentally lifted the item back onto the shelf. He made his way back to catch up with Kassia. "I don't suppose you can help me with something."
"I thought you said you could reach the idol."
"Other then that." He caught up with her. "It doesn't pertain to the idol."
"I know," she replied casually. "You're wondering about Kimberly Tycho."
"How did you...."
Kassia tapped the side of her head with her finger. "I can read thoughts too."
"You'll help me then."
"You read my mind," Kassia teased. The two stepped into a seperate room in her shop where she instructed him to sit down. She sat across from him with a small table inbetween the two. She then began looking into his eyes. Feeling a little uneasy, Garek began to squirm slightly. "No worry. I'm trying to get an impression on you. It helps me in my prediction."
Garek wanted to look away, but was somehow drawn to the green eyes that were staring at him. Finally, she broke the type of trance she held on him. "Your future is actually pretty unclear at this point."
"Hmph." Garek looked across the table at her. "Some psychic you are."
She smiled. "I can only do so much. Besides, if I told you exactly how your life were to turn out, you might be a little disappointed."
"With what?"
"That's for you to find out."
"Erg...." Garek narrowed his eyes at her and attempted to probe her mind for the answers.
~Tisk tisk. You won't find the answers up here either.~ Kassia mentally projected the message to him. "It appears the 'ball's in your court.' "
"Thanks." Garek rose from his seat. "You can't even give me a little help as to what might get me going on the right course here?"
"That Cardassian fertility stone wouldn't hurt." She smiled and made her way back to the front of the store.
Garek watched her leave. "Ha ha," he commented sarcastically loud enough for her to hear. Grinning slightly, he made his way out of the store, giving one last glance to that fertility stone, and then shaking his head.
Continuing down the promenade, Garek was interrupted by a communication. [Commander Loran, come in please.]
"Yes Murph?" Garek replied.
[When am I getting that Chief Engineer slot?]
Garek grinned. "When you grow up."
[Yes sir.]
"What's the real question?"
[We're having some trouble converting the dilithium processing equipment to be compatible with the station's power grid.]
Figures. That's what happens when you put new technology into an older power matrix made of newer materials. He shuddered at the thought of the power regulator and computer rewiring.
"Tell the crews to take the next few days off from this project. I know everyone's been working wildly to get this station up to specifications, and make upgrades on top of that."
[I'll tell everyone immediatly Commander. Thank you sir.]
"Don't mention it. Garek out." The channel closed. Now, to go and do one thing that always relaxed him...
A little more.... A little more... come one..... perfect.... Garek let out a sigh of relief. He slid out from underneath the pilot's console of the Lambda Flier. "That should take care of flight command relays." Garek finished installing a new gel pack router that increased flight control from the Flier's control joystick. It was one perk that he enjoyed in his craft. The normal LCARS flight panels were great for when someone else piloted the Flier, but the joystick, Garek believed, brought out the true preformance of the craft.
Walking across the Flier's personal hanger to data console and viewscreen, he brought up the schmatics of the Flier along with the new Banshee class fighter that had just been published in Starfleet R&D Quarterly. If he knew any better, Garek was sure that the best flight group in Starfleet would be the first to test out this class of fighter. Thus, giving him the opportunity to truly test the capabilities of the fighter. That, and to see if what his friend Tim Hutchin from R&D told him about these fighters were true. They were supposively the most manueverable, and versatile light shuttle in Starfleet. I guess the engineers at R&D haven't read the schematics on the Lambda Flier yet.
Walking back over to the Flier, he ran his hands over the cool, smooth tridanium armor plating. He then checked the phaser cannon emitter and the torpedo launcher. He slid under the fighter and opened up one of the belly compartments to check out his current project. If this weapon functioned like it was projected to, it would put a whole new face on space combat today. Oh well, he thought. There would be only one real way to find out..... Banshee Squadron.
