Ethan sat stiff as a board at his seat to the left of Lieutenant Commander Carter, the Arizona's new helm officer. He worked over his station, and focused on his station alone. he didn't let the other distractions around the bridge get to him. Commander Carter leaned over to the Ensign, and gave a friendly piece of advice. "At ease Ensign, you look as if your about to pop."
Ethan turned, and gave a face, and then leaned back in his chair."Huh, excuse me Commander?"
"I know your a new officer, but your already liked by the senior staff. No need to pop a spring. Relax, and go over your work calmly or your going to burn out." Carter said, giving the usual friendly smile. Razek then slouched his shoulders, and then turned his head back to his console. The Commander was right. Ethan's back was hurting some. Everything seemed to be going smoothly. No major repairs had to be done. No systems failure. Then came.
[Ensign Razek, report to my ready room.] The comm channel came alive with Wallace's voice.
Damn now what? Ethan thought as he turned his chair and stood up. He tucked his new tunic, and walked towards the Ready Room. He was then told to enter.
The Captain's ready room, was rather comfy to Ethan, it was almost the size of his quarters on Supply Base 901. He looked around to see it had not yet been decorated. "Take a seat Ensign." Wallace said, from behind his desk. Razek, sat down and started to fidget it with his hands.
"So, what you think of the new Arizona?" Wallace asked.
"She's nice sir." Ethan replied, fidgeting in his chair. His uneasiness was rather clear to Wallace.
"Why are you so uneasy? I know your good and you don't need to impress the others. They know you already."
It was quiet for a few seconds then Ethan spoke."Sir, I was a cadet and hardly responsible for anything. Now I am a department head, I feel an urge to do better then before at my work."
The reasons seemed good to Wallace. he remembered being a young NCO, and having to impress people. Now he didn't have to really impress anyone. But he being the wise Captain gave words of wisdom.
"Listen, you'll do fine. Ease up on yourself. I have an assignment. This one will keep you busy for three hours. It's time we take inventory of the Torpedoes, and the cargo bay." Wallace handed over a PADD, and waited to hear a response.
Ethan read the PADD, and gave a smile."Sir, I'll have it done before three hours our up." Ethan stood up, and walked out of the turbo lift, and headed towards the torpedo bay.
