The time was around 0530 hours, and Wallace was up, and getting ready to beam down to the surface. He had read over a few of Captain Picards logs about the Ba'ku. He said that they were more mentally advanced then another race he or his crew had encountered in their 12 year history together. The log entry was mad in 2375. Another thing that Picard said was they didn't allow weapons in their city. That was something Wallace was not too keen on.
Wallace's away team would beam down armed with Type II phasers, and tricorders. They'll give up weapons only upon request. For the scans revealed 31 Son'a to the east of the City, near the caves. The caves were loaded with Kelvanite which made transport nearly impossible.
Wallace walked over to the replicator, and ordered a cup of coffee, and looked out the view port of his quarters. The view was amazing a planet with rings around it. The Planet was blue and green from space. All of a sudden Wallace felt no aches in his knees, or shoulders. In fact he felt like a 20 year old man.
The staff was assembled in the Conference lounge. It was square table with 8 Chairs. However two chairs were empty. Wallace looked at everyone and then asked."What time is it?"
"0600 hours." Tarik replied.
"Why is Ensign Kassia, and Lieutenant Deveraux's chairs empty." Wallace said kind of getting frustrated. Tarik then spoke up.
"Kassia said something about beaming down with Deveraux."
Wallace wasn't very happy. Lieutenant Deveraux had been acting so perfect lately now he had to screw up."Fine I'll have a word with the Lieutenant."
"Back to business. Major your take your platoon and sweep to the hills from the west. You'll basically be taking the Son'a from the rear.
The scans show no organized Son'a units in the city. Just a few Son'a in what appears to be residences.
Commander Loran, and Lieutenant Anderson, Ensign Razek, and Commander Carter, will beam into the city. I want Lieutenant Vesser to scout the area from above." It was quite for a minute. Then Wallace continued.
"Lieutenant Schmidt is in charge of the Arizona, until we return. Standard armament for Star Fleet personnel will be Tricorders, and Type II phasers.
Marines, Type II's and Phaser Rifles. Lets get ready to leave.
Oh Major I've had the Cargo bay refitted to deal with a platoon type beaming."
Tarik gave a smile, and left the Conference lounge, as did the Senior staff. Upon stepping into transporter room 1, Wallace was handed a tricorder, and phaser. He then stepped onto the PADD with other four officers. The beam felt tingly as the Arizona disappeared, before their eyes.
A warm sun, and cool fresh breeze greeted Wallace's cheek's as he realized the transport was complete. He looked around to see a village void of technology, and mountains to the east with snow on the peeks. "Sir, what now" Lieutenant Anderson said interrupting Wallace's moment of peace and quiet.
"Locate the Son'a in the city. I believe those Son'a chose the path of living with Ba'ku, after many years gone. However be careful." Wallace said pulling out his tricorder, and turning towards the city.
