The time was around 0634 hours station time, and most of the senior staff was back on the Arizona some were asleep, and some were awake. Captain Wallace however was in his ready room going over Commander Carter's report on the Ba'ku ship, that was there Ark of sorts. That was how Wallace put it in his head and it made sense.
When he was growing up he was raised on Bible stories, and the Bible. The Ark was where god had selected on man and his family and told him to build a ark, and bring two of every animal. The world had gotten too much out of control in gods mind, and he was going to rid the world of his problems, and start over. Well the Ba'ku decided it was better to leave their old ways and life behind, and move off in a ship, and find a planet to start new. So in Wallace's thinking he could relate to old Ba'ku ship to a Ark of sorts.
Richard picked his coffee cup up and brought it to his lips, to his surprise the cup was empty. Damn Wallace thought to himself. He put the report down and walked over to the replicator and ordered his fourth cup of coffee. His mind went back to Lieutenant Deveraux. Deveraux had been stupid and acted to early, and on his own. Wallace thought that Deveraux was getting better. He was a good fighter and a talented scientist, just a basic over grown kid.
Richard had called Deveraux to come to his office at 0700 hours. Wallace wasn't going to file charges, for a screw up like what Deveraux did, wasn't serious enough for a court martial or charges. He was going to discipline Paul Deveraux in his very own way. Wallace made his way back to his desk as the door chimed.
"Enter." Wallace called, he sort of knew who was there.
Paul walked in and stood at attention, as he walked up to the desk."Sir, I's like to explain whatz I did waz wrong. I'd like to face my yous now sir."
A stern look came over Wallace's face, and he stood up and cleared his throat. "Sit down." Wallace said in a firm tone.
"You have got to be the dumbest idiot, that ever came about. If you were any dumber, I'd think you were a product of inbreeding. What the hell were you thinking?"
Paul started to speak, as Wallace paused. "Damn it did I say speak? That's your problem you think only for yourself. In all my years I have never seen an officer be so damn undisciplined. " Wallace walked around the desk towards his couch.
"What are you unable to speak?"
"Sir... I was thinking..."Deveraux tried to explain but was interrupted, by Wallace.
"Thinking? Thinking? You have got to be shifting me Deveraux. Now how often does a an away team beam down before a staff briefing. Or are you just so dumb to think that every planet has nice little friendly happy people." Wallace was mad but showing restraint.
"God damn it who gave you permission to sit down?"
"Yous did sir."Deveraux said looking puzzled.
"Bull, get the hell up stand at attention. Listen Lieutenant, from now on you are not to be allowed on an away mission unless Lieutenant Anderson is on it. Got it?"
"Sir isn't the Lieutenant always on an away mission?"
"You snot nose shit. You've got 15 minutes to get the hell out of my site before I throw you across the room. You injured a fellow crew mate, and yourself, and gave away our presence to the enemy. If we had been slaughter you would be facing a firing squad. You get me Mister Deveraux? You ever get any of my men hurt or killed. I'll make your life so damn miserable, you wish that you were dead. Now get the hell of my face. Dismissed!"
Wallace felt good he restrained himself considerably. He then took a few seconds to cool down, and then stepped on to the bridge. He saw Carter at the Helm, and Garek in the XO's chair. "Commander take us out of orbit, and plot a course to bearing 045 mark 4." Wallace took his seat. "How's the transwarp drive Garek?"
Garek gave a smile."She is up and running."
"Carter warp 11, engage at your discretion Commander."
"Aye sir, bearing 045 mark 4, warp 11."Carter pressed the buttons and slid her fingers over the controls. The Arizona broke orbit and them turned into a beam of light as it entered Warp speed.
