Captain Wallace felt good being back on the station, he had been gone only 3 days, but it had been enough. Wallace stepped off the turbo lift and onto the Command Deck, to see Ensign Razek, and Lieutenant Kelly. Kelly seemed rather unphased by the fact he had been busted 3 grades. Command thought it would be better to allow him to finish his tour as a Captain's yeoman.
"Morning Captain."Kelly said in a rather cheery voice.
"Morning Lieutenant."Wallace said being respectful. Razek then nodded good morning. "Well Ensign back on duty. Good to see you up and about." Wallace said trying to make the Ensign feel better.
"Sir I have some reports layer out on your desk." Kelly said going over to the Engineering station.
Wallace walked into his office and looked around and saw four PADDs, laying out on his desk. Well he is trying. Richard thought to himself. He took his seat and picked up and glanced over the PADD. The PADD contained a report on some more Colonist arriving the on the 16 of this month.
The Colonist all 56, will arrive the following day at 0930 hours. They were take up residence on New Canada. Replacing some of the 121 Colonist killed by the Son'a and the Hirogen. They would arrive on a cargo ship. The Padd also contained some information on the dilthuim mining operation. The Colonist were able to mine 34 tons of dilthuim every 3 weeks. It was predicted that the addition of 56 new colonist would increase the production rate by twice that much.
Wallace placed the PADD down, and then picked up the second it was a report of new Science personnel. This interested Wallace deeply, he was starting to grow tired of Deveraux's escapades. Three new science officers were already on the station. 2 of the new Science officers were ensigns, a year out of the academy, and the third was a Lieutenant Junior Grade Alexis Green. Wallace then turned his computer on and punched up the Lieutenant's records.
The screen showed a photo, of a rather attractive female. She was extremely attractive to Richard, but he knew to keep his personal and emotional feelings hidden. The record was just as attractive. Class of 74, three assignments, and the fourth one was a Science instructor for 2 years at the academy. Wallace wanted to meet this person. He quickly tapped his comm badge.
"Ensign Razek. Wallace here."
[Yes sir.]
"I want to speak with Lieutenant Green, ASAP. Wallace out." Wallace stood up and walked over to the replicator, and ordered a cup Vulcan tea. He enjoyed Vulcan tea as much as coffee, he drank it only once in a while, cause it was extremely high in caffeine. Even though the Vulcans deny it has Caffine. He sipped it and as he walked back to his desk. The his door chimed. "Enter." He called out.
The person walked in and Wallace stood up, to see the most beautiful person he had seen in years. It was Lieutenant Green. She was about 5'6" And had short red hair and green eyes to match her name." Lieutenant Green reporting as ordered sir." She replied.
"Yes, at ease. Take a seat."Wallace said pointing to the chair across from his desk.
"I am very sorry I wasn't here when you first arrived. My senior staff and myself were finishing up some unfinished business. And doing a little exploring." Wallace paused to see if she had anything to say. However she remained silent.
"I called you here, cause I want to discuss some information about the Chief Science officer."
"What about Lieutenant Deveraux?"Green asked not knowing what to expect.
"Well, to be honest he's not my choice of a Chief Science Officer. He is arrogant and is very disrespectful towards me and those above him. Example he has to serve 10 days in the brig, and has thrown away any chance for promotion. Now the other officers in his department need an officer that has to show an example. You have an outstanding record, I want you to show the other Science officers and including Deveraux how to be a good officer."
It was quite for a few minutes, then Alexis leaned forward. "I can't guarantee anything, Captain. However I am willing to try."
That was all Wallace wanted to hear, and he gave a big smile. He leaned back in his chair, and thought for a few seconds."Thanks, Lieutenant that's all that I ask of my officers. Your dismissed."
Richard then picked up a PADD, and read it out loud. "Star Fleet Command has denied a Commission for Chief John Anderson acting Lieutenant JG and Chief of Security on Supply Base 901. He is ordered to revert back to Chief Petty Officer. Although the Marines have informed Command that Chief Anderson more then qualifies as Marine Officer. Damn" Wallace was hoping for his old friend but it didn't fly. He knew that Command was sometimes generous with commissions and other times not so generous. He put the PADD down and picked up another PADD. That read Promotions.
This PADD contained even better news, and gave Wallace an idea. "Wallace to Major Tarik."
[Tarik here, Captain. What is it sir?"]
"I have some good news for you and an idea that needs your help."
[On my way sir.]
13 minutes later in Wallace's Office............
"Major Tarik, I have some bad news." Wallace said with a serous face.
"What is it?"
"Star Fleet Command has denied a Commission for Chief John Anderson. he's to revert back to that rank." Wallace said with a sigh.
"Damn, fleeties. Wouldn't know a good officer if it bit them in the ass. No offense sir." Tarik said giving a frustrated look.
"However the Marine Corps would grant an officers Commission to those who apply an qualify."
Tarik saw where this was going."Sir you know Anderson more then me. Is he?" Tarik asked.
"Yes, were part of Delta Force. I think he more then qualifies."
Tarik knew of Delta Force, but really know that much about them. They were an elite unit that was keep secret for the most part. Stories always circulated around the Corps about Delta Force.
"I think you should join me this afternoon when I break this news to him. However but first. The Promotion board has selected you early for Lieutenant Colonel. It won't be official until next week, when the promotions list is passed around. Congratulations." Wallace said shaking Tarik's hand.
