John was sitting at his desk going over a few things, such as the next cargo inventory for the incoming cargo ship. He was also thinking about how well things were going the past 4 and half weeks. He sat back and took a sigh of relief. Then the door to his office slid open, Major Tarik and Captain Wallace came in. At first he thought nothing of it. Then the look that was on Wallace's face gave way something that was wrong.
"John, I need you to take a seat. This isn't good news" Wallace said looking over at Tarik.
Oh no, my family? No I am in trouble. Anderson thought to himself.
"Command has denied your commission. Your to revert back to Chief Petty Officer. Major Tarik has something that may help." Wallace said in a fairly said tone.
"Chief the Corps has expressed interest in as becoming an officer. It's a chance that's rather hard to come by."
John was silent, and didn't say anything. He felt rather sick, and was uncertain about everything. Thoughts were running through his head. More then anything, he was hurt by the news.
"Of course, take some time to think on it."Tarik added.
"Sirs, I need to think on this. May I be excused from my duties, for a day?" Anderson said standing up, and trying to hide his feelings.
"Yes."Wallace said motioning Tarik to follow him out of the office. John followed shortly, and walked up to the Easy Inn, which was starting to get busy. He ordered a ale, and sat at a table and drank his ale, and thought of a few things. Mainly he was thinking on why his commission was rejected.
I'm more then qualified. More then that Deveraux!!
Deveraux, what a sorry excuse for a officer. He disobeys orders, becomes an officer. Me I follow orders and. Sorry your not officer materiel. John pulled off his comm badge and set it on the table. He then pulled his gold and black pip, and set it on the table. "Why? I've been in combat, and such yet they want me to be a NCO, not an officer. Damn them!! "John slammed his hand on the table. Causing mostly the people around him to look at him.
"Sorry, folks damn Star Fleet."
Chief Murphy walked over to Anderson, and saw he was a bit upset. "Sorry I herd the news."
"How the hell do you know?"
"It's a small station John, word travels fast." Murphy pulled out the chair and sat down.
"Well, Chief Anderson? Are you going to sit on a egg and suck on it? Or go and take what you can?" Murphy said pushing back the comm badge towards Anderson.
It then clicked in John's mind, that things happen for a reason. He could picture himself as a Marine, and being a good one. I am going to take it. I deserve the best. I've been in almost 15 years. And it's time I look out for my future. Anderson stood up, and then looked at Chief Murphy.
"Chief excuse me, I have some things to do." Anderson walked out and headed towards his quarters, he still had to think this over. For it was no small decision.
