It was around 0830 hours, and most of the senior staff was present for the reception ceremony for Chief John Anderson. He had accepted a Commission in the United Federation Marine Corps, as a First Lieutenant. His prior experience in the elite Delta Force, more then qualified him as a Marine.
Captain Wallace, and Major Tarik stood at near the Chief, Wallace was handed a PADD from Lieutenant Kelly. Wallace looked down and then read the PADD aloud. "Chief Petty Officer John Anderson, I herby honorably discharge you from Star Fleet. Star Fleet command thanks you for 15 years of gallant service." Wallace then handed over the PADD and shook the former Chief's hand. Then Major Tarik step forward, and read from a PADD, that was in his hand.
"John Anderson under article 120 United Federation Marine Corps, field manual. And the Commandant of the Marine Corps. I herby award you a Commission of a First Lieutenant in the 28th Marine Expeditionary Unit stationed on Supply Base 901, and Under Command of Major Tarik. You are granted all the privileges and responsibilities of that rank." Tarik handed the Padd to an Aide, and walked infront of John and pulled the Chevron pin off his collar, and and placed a Silver bar on his right collar. Tarik then shook his hand and gave a smile.
"Thanks for accepting the position."
"Thank you sir. I was left with no other choice."Anderson said giving a smile. The group of officers dispersed and, Wallace walked up to his old student, and gave a friendly smile.
"Hey Captain."
"John, I am happy for you. You deserve it, your a hell of an officer. That's why I am still keeping you as Chief of Security. Screw star fleet regulations." Wallace said as he walked out of the ward room.
Gosh, this feels good. I hope that I make more of a name for myself as a Marine then as a Fleetie.
Lieutenant Anderson felt good about himself and was very happy he took what Major Tarik, and Captain Wallace had offered. He knew the time would come to prove his worth. John walked out and headed towards the Secuirty office he knew he had his hands full.
