Tarik strode calmly into the brig early the next morning and walked to the furthest cell. He caught the glares of the captured Jem H'adar and Mullura from the corner of his eye, but paid no attention as he continued on down the long room. Eventually, he came to his destination and found Paul Deveraux, the suspected traitor.
"Paul" he said to get his attention.
Paul rolled over on the shelf that was supposedly a bed. He got up after seeing who it was and walked up to the force field.
"Lower the force field." said Tarik turning to the officer on duty. As he turned back he was met with a fist in his face. Tarik fell to the floor and rubbed his jaw.
"I thought we waz friendz ah?? Where zhe ell ave you bin? Leavin me to rot in zhis shit hole!"
Tarik stood up and gave back another punch equally as hard sending Paul to the floor. "I've been clearing up the mess that you supposedly made." Tarik extended his arm to pull Paul back up. Paul brushed it aside and got up himself.
"Listen, I may not play by zhe rulez, but I iz no traitor!"
"Paul, I know.. I know... Kassia and I have believed it for a long time. But until now there hasn't been anything we could do about it."
"So what are you saying?"
"Your a free man.. with a few conditions." "What conditions?"
"You are in my custody and anything you do out of place, and you answer directly to me."
"Iz zhat it?" Paul asked skeptically
"No, Wallace wants you to look over some files recovered from a Mulluran vessel..."
"No deal!"
"What?"
"I am not working for zhat bastard. I iz sorry Tarik, but zhere is no man I ate more right now. I would rather share a bed with a Mulluran zhen do anysing for im again!" Paul slumped back down on his shelf and crossed his arms.
Tarik sighed "Paul, the evidence against you was pretty condeming. Your lucky you didn't recieve a worse punishment."
"I don't care ow condeming zhe evidence is! Did e care? non! Did e launch an investigation to find out if it really was me? Non! Did e for one little moment think that maybe I ave been set up? Non! Does he suck off men? I think so!"
"Alright, thats enough! Point taken. If you wont do it for him, then do it for me. For Kassia, and all the other people who are putting their lives on the line in this conflict."
"I will do it for you and zhe ozers, but not Wallace. And I iz gonna flush out zhat piece of shit zhat set me up and make sure e gets whats coming to im!"
"We both will. Now how about we get out of here?"
"Sounds good to me mon amis"
23:56 hours....
Lieutenant Kelly was walking through the corridors on the way to his quarters. He turned a corner and came face to face with Paul.
"Whatz zhe matter worm? You zeem surprised to see me."
"I, I was just starteld thats all... I thought you were in the brig."
"Seems like someone didn't set me up well enough."
"Well, I'm happy to see you out of there, and I wish you luck in finding him."
"Not so fast" said Paul grabbing Kelly and pinning him against the wall. "I've already found im." said Paul glaring into Kellys eyes.
"You have?"
"Don't play stupid with me you shit! I am not Wallace, I can see through your scheme. Ever since you abandoned zhe Arizona I've suspected zhere was somesing up."
"I think you have your wires crossed." said Kelly trying to move away, but Paul pinned him there even harder.
"Don't tell me I'm wrong you worm. I know I'm right and you know it too."
"It wasn't me! You can't prove anything!"
"Not yet mon amis, but amrk my wordz I will be watching you. Waiting for you to slip up and when you do I will be zhere so fast you won't know what iz appenin!"
"Problem gentlemen?" asked Lieutenant Anderson as he walked down the corridor.
"Not at all sir. Ensign Deveraux was just leaving. Weren't you?"
Paul released his grip and stormed off.
"What was all that about?" asked Anderson.
"He's just letting off a bit of steam. Being locked in a brig for a month will do that to you. Everythings fine."
"Any more hastle, let me know ok?"
"I'll be sure to do that Lieutenant. Thank you."
