The news that Wallace received from SB901 was outstanding. Now he had to speak with Ensign Deveraux. He felt a little uncomfortable speaking with Paul. He knew Paul was not stupid and that he couldn't have sent those messages or the weapons, however the evidence seemed rather real to Wallace. Richard stood up from his chair and walked a few steps.
"Lieutenant Sovick bring Ensign Deveraux to my ready room."
Sovick stepped away from his station and nodded his head in reply.
About 15 minutes later Sovick and Deveraux were in Wallace's ready room. Paul looked a little uneasy. Richard couldn't blame him. "Lieutenant wait outside the door. "
"Well, your cleared."
"I herd zee newz." Paul said in a sarcastic tone. Wallace gringed and held his true response back.
"Listen I was skeptical but the evidence was damning. I had no choice but to throw you in the brig.
I can understand that you have bad feelings against me. And I have not made those feelings easier by beating you up like a wayward child.
See what gets me is your attitude. You seem to carry nothing but for yourself. You see these." Wallace tapped his pips.
"Yes, what about them?" Paul asked.
"These are Captain's pips. Captains are the most respected and revered rank in Star Fleet. Most people go into star fleet not for an Admirals rank, or Lieutenant Commander.
I didn't want these; I dropped out of the Academy. However command felt I earned these. So show me what I've earned, which is respect. You show me respect I'll do the same.
I'll stay out of your way; you stay out of mine. But if you foul up I'll be on you like white on rice." Wallace pulled out a black box and handed it towards Paul.
"Your also restored to Lieutenant JG, but your no longer Chief Science officer until you can prove it to me and the rest of the crew. Now get out of my site."
After Paul left Richard sat back in his chair and thought for a few minutes. He was thinking of how to end this war and when it happen, how it would happen. Then when the war was over what happen to Richard Wallace be reassigned and then given a minor command.
