The fighting was still going on but the tide was turning in favor of Captain Anderson's company. One of the two towers was completely taken out. Anderson and PFC Hunsker had thrown about 16 photon grenades into the one tower.
Now Anderson had to focus on getting into the complex. He pulled out his tricorder and scanned the building only 13 yards from his position. The readings showed two entrances. He looked around to see 5 Marines standing by him waiting for orders.
"Sergeant Bailey take two men and check the main entrance tell me how the door is locked."
Bailey changed his power pack and nodded his head. He looked at Pvt Hanley and the two walked ever so carefully to the door. Bailey saw that the door was sealed and could find no computer terminal. He tapped his comm badge.
"Sir the door is locked from the inside."
[Alright I'm sending Corporal Hicks with some explosives. Anderson out.]
Corporal Hicks was the 28th's bomb expert, and EOD. He was 26 years old and loved his job. He eagerly ran up to the door and pulled out a device that looked like a PADD. It was his own design.
"That looks like a PADD." Hanley said.
"Yeah but one touch of the button on this one will open any file cabinet." Hicks placed the PADD on the door and pressed a button and set the timer for 35 seconds.
The PADD was a redisgned one that had a special electrical charge with about 2.5 ounces of Antimatter. This was enough to destroy the door. He had several others on the transports.
The detonation went off blasting the door in ward. Hanley and Bailey threw a couple hand grenades in the door way, to kill anyone that was in there that would try and fight back.
Anderson ran up with a three men and looked towards where the door stood and waited with his weapon point at the door way. He herd and knew some Jem'hadar would rush towards the exposed door way. He fired as he saw a shape. The others joined in. Anderson barked out an order.
"Throw another couple grenades in there. Then 3 squad move in and secure the door way. " Anderson tapped his comm badge to speak with Major Boyle.
"Hammerhead 2-6 this is Alpha 2-6 come in."
[Hammerhead 2-6, go ahead 2-6.]
"We are about to enter the complex. Resistance was a little stiffer then expected. Over"
[Roger that 2-6. Jem'Hadar attack reinforcements are on route ETA 15 minutes. They will be joined by a relief force in 29 hours.]
"Loud and clear Alpha 2-6 out."
"Clear!!" The marines yield out as they finished sweeping the door way. Anderson got up and walked in the door way. The door way lights were out and it was dark.
Anderson turned his phaser rifle light on and looked down at the ground and saw three dead Jem'hadar with large holes in their chest. He then saw several legs and arms and torn torsos from Jem'Hadar killed with the grenades. Bailey walked up and tapped Anderson on the shoulder.
"What now sir?"
"Take 16 men and secure the barracks they are on the left side. I'll take 12 men and secure the lab, and processing plant. "
The hallway leading to the lab and plant was well lit. Anderson picked up 3 life signs. 2 were Jem'Hadar and the third was a Vorta. They were in the lab and the lab door was locked. Unlike the entrance door this one had a computer terminal.
John knew that once the door was open the enemy would fire. Also knew returning fire would be bad cause of the flammable chemicals. He told his men to put their rifles down and pull out their hand phasers and set them on setting of 7. That setting would stun the Jem'hadar for 5 minutes, and not ignite the chemicals.
John used his tricorder to open the door and as predicted the Jem'Hadar fired. The Marines opened up hitting one Jem'hadar and John aimed and fired his at the Jem'Hadar and struck him in the neck.
It was quiet for a few minutes then John saw something move behind a desk. "Come out with your hands up. Or I will fire on you."
A male Vorta about 32 human years in appearance jumped up with his hands in the air. "Are their anymore Jem'hadar?"
"No sir."
"Are there any more Vorta?"
"Yes three in the barracks."
"Pvt Hanley secure the Prisoner. Corporal Hicks I want you to ready the plant for detonation. Use all the tricobalt torpedoes."
"All sir that will leave a 2.5 Kilometer crater in the ground."
"Yeah I wanna destroy this damn place." Anderson stepped outside and looked around and saw the dead Jem'Hadar and wounded. He sat on top of the parapet and pulled out his canteen and took a drink.
Thirty minutes later Bailey showed up. "Sir the wounded are ready for transport, as are the dead. Hicks as the place ready and is waiting on your orders."
John stood up and looked at the murder towers and the smoke coming from them and looked at the dead Jem'hadar."How many wounded?"
"23 Captain."
"How many dead?"
"31 Cap'n Most were killed when the transport landed and took a direct hit."
John felt a bit sick in his stomach. And knew he was at some fault and was to blame for the high casualties. "Alright get the wounded out and the others get them on the transports."
"Sir another thing. We took out 97 Jem'Hadar. And we have three prisoners."
"I don't care it cost enough."
As John boarded the transport he saw a Marine snap a photograph of the battle area, and then the door shut, and the engines of the Hawke could be herd as it lifted off. When the transports were about 1200 kilometers off the surface the bomb went off. The explosion was a dark blue then a fire orange.
"I won't miss that place." Hanley said as he put his camera away in his field pack.
"Neither will I." John said to himself in a low voice.
