"The Curse Continues"

Author: Lieutenant Paul Deveraux
Earthdate: November 24, 2384
Location: SB901 / New Canada

"Kassia!" Paul shouted for the last time. There was simply no answer at her quarters. He tired of this and finally pulled off the panel by her door and rearranged some chips. He doors slid open and Paul stepped in. No one was there however. "Computer, locate Kassia."

< Lieutenant Kassia is not aboard the station. >

"Where zhe ell iz she?"

< Please restate the question. >

"Where iz Lieutenant Kassia?"

< Lieutenant Kassia left on a transport vessel for Vulcan this morning. >

"Dammit!" he yelled as he stormed off down the corridor.

Fortunately, Paul had not had another vision so far today and was sitting in the science lab engaging in a little research. He couldn't do anything about the visions for now, but he could at least try to find out who this woman was.

He had entered some of her physical descriptions (those he could remember) into the computer and the computer was currently running a search on all listed persons in is database, Starfleet and civilian.

The computer bleeped as it finished its search. < 321,754 matches found. >

Paul just got up and left. There was NO way he was going to sit there and search through all of those files manually. If only he had a name, then this would have been easier...

Paul rematerialised on the surface of New Canada. He needed to clear his head, and there was nothing like the refreshing breeze of fresh air, to do that. As he walked away from the settlement, he began thinking over and over in his mind, who this woman was, and what she could have done to him to make him have these visions. Could she really be a Bajoran even?

After a good few hours of walking, Paul was still no closer to a solution. He sat down at the edge of a lake and looked into the shimmering water. Standing alongside him, looking into the water, was this woman. Paul looked up with a start but there was no one beside him.

"Dammit!!" he yelled, as he picked up a stone and threw it as hard as he could into the lake. "What 'ave you done to me?!?"

As he walked back to the settlement, it began to rain... Paul hardly noticed it as he walked, preoccupied with his thoughts, trying desperately to work out what was happening to him. He walked back into the settlement and beamed up to the station. He got odd looks on the promenade from civilians, having never seen a wet Starfleet officer walking through a perfectly dry station before. When he finally reached his quarters, he got changed, lay down on his bed and went to sleep.

He had the same dream that night as he had had the night before, firstly on the beach, then in the chains. Finally, running again down the corridors of the ship, only this time there was another vision afterwards, her aiming a phaser at Paul's head, and firing!
