K'Tag stepped up onto a podium on the promenade. Captain Mallory was there, along with all of K'Tag's family and friends, and a few passers-by. Ambassador Worf had also arrived a few days prior. Ambassador Worf moved to the podium and begin to speak.
"Welcome friends of K'Tag, it is my pleasure to be here with all of you today. On behalf of the Klingon Empire I award K'Tag the medal of honor, and the Cross of the Warrior, for the death of 8 enemies to the Klingon High Council and for the capture of 3 Romulans suspected in signing an alliance with an enemy of the Klingon High Council, as well as the capture of 27 Mullurans. On behalf of the Federation of Planets we award you a purple heart and the Starfleet distinguished service medal"
"Thank-you, sir" K'Tag sounded proud in his tone of voice. He continued to stand there, he was standing tall and not letting anyone look him square in the eyes.
Worf stepped down from the podium and was replaced by Captain Mallory, wearing her full-dress uniform. K'Tag was amazed that his commanding officer had so many decorations for valor.
"I can't say any more than the honorable Ambassador has already said about K'Tag's valor. He is a valued member of this station's crew," Kitty said, paying K'Tag the highest possible compliment one could pay to a Klingon. "Everyone is dismissed!"
"Captain..." Lt. O'Malley had managed to make it to the podium before Kitty could step down.
"Yes, Lt. O'Malley." Captain Mallory had gotten somewhat accustomed to hearing the young Lieutenant's voice.
"I was just wondering, Captain if I could stay here..." Her voice trailed out.
"I do need an officer to handle all negotiations concerning the disposition of all these prisoners." Captain Mallory sounded like she was making up some excuse to create Lt. O'Malley a position on the station.
"Yes,... Thank you! I won't let you down." Lt. O'Malley turned around excitedly and bumped into K'Tag.
"I know you don't know me, and I don't know you, but I was wondering if you would want to come to dinner, with daughter and my myself." K'Tag was sensitive in the way he asked the young Lieutenant.
"Sure, I would love that," Claire O'Malley answered quickly, and now she was very excited.
"Great, It will have to be tonight, because you ship out tomorrow, right?" K'Tag had done his research and wanted to make sure everything was going to work out right.
"Actually, Captain Mallory just assigned me as the Starbase Negotiation officer." Lt. O'Malley was even more excited when she said her title for the first time.
"That's great! Do you still want to do dinner tonight?" K'Tag asked again.
"Yes, it sounds great." O'Malley smiled as she spoke.
"Everyone to the Easy Inn for a celebration" Ambassador Worf yelled and the crew piled into the Easy Inn, and celebrated all night.
