"Arrivals"

Residents, crew, and all sorts of intergalactic strangers bustled around the main shopping area of Starbase 901. So much activity, so much action, but J'nala's eyes were fixed on the man with the contract. One press of a thumbprint, and she was in business.

Her legs carried her through the crowd, ignoring the aliens. Her green skin caught a few glances as she navigated the station; it was more than odd for an Orion woman to make a public appearance without cheesy music playing in the background, and a stage.

With these thoughts passing through her mind, the pleasant odor of incense and peppermints, (the colour of time) wafted past her, and reeled her in to a store marked with the sign: Kassia's Cave of Curiosities and Mystery. J'nala drifted in, carrying luggage and all, and proceeded to browse.

A small city of coloured wax candles took up one small shelf, and J'nala wandered closer, inhaling the smell through her nostrils. It wasn't long before she had attracted the attention of the shopkeeper.

"May I help you?" she asked. J'nala noticed first the spots common to the species called Trill. She often found herself in awe of them, having lived so many lives, never knowing the experience of death.

J'nala considered offering her hand in a friendly greeting, but remembered it was mainly a human custom. Having lived among humans for most of her life, the parts that counted anyway, she had to keep reminding herself she wasn't one of them.

"I'm new here. I own the Rat and Parrot pub, trouble is, I'm lost." J'nala said. The shopkeeper looked a little unsure of how to respond, then introduced herself as Kassia, Lieutenant JG of the medical division. J'nala raised an eyebrow.

"And you run this shop, too? You must be a busy lassie." She said. "It's a Scottish saying." Kassia was still a tad silent. "You know about the Scotts, don't ye, lassie. What ya be doin' wey out here befar ye seen Edinburgh!"

Slowly, a grin appeared on Kassias face. "You're not typical of your species." She observed

"Aye." J'nala winked, and shook the pretend accent. "So you're a doctor?"

"Counselor, actually."

"Ah. A shrink."

"Excuse me?"

"Do you think you could point me in the right direction here? I'm supposed to meet the previous owner in front of the place five minutes ago." J'nala said. Kassia indicated a direction across the way with a sharp nod. On the other side of the promenade was an unlit sign 'The Rat and Parrot' with an emblem featuring the aforementioned creatures carved onto a large wooden shield.

"I hope you can bring life to that place. I don't think the owner has seen a busy night since the end of the Dominion War." Kassia huffed.

"We'll just wait and see, won't we?" J'nala said with a sly grin, and left the shop with nothing but aspirations for success in her mind.
