"Classified Briefing"

Author: Lieutenant John Barnes
Earthdate: March 30, 2385
Location: Admiral Wallace's Office

John had gotten up every twenty minutes during the night to keep from oversleeping the next morning for his briefing with Admiral Richard Wallace. John had heard stories about Wallace and how he was a stickler for being on time.

He quickly put his new tunic on and quickly drank his Vulcan tea which helped sooth his anxiety. He also reread his findings three or four times.

The results of his biology exam and autopsy were rather disturbing and he knew they would stay with him for the rest of his life. He had never seen anything like this ever before.

John walked in to Admiral Wallace's office and noticed how he had decorated it with several trophies and souvenirs from his experiences in the Fleet.

"Take a seat, Doctor," the Admiral bade him.

"Sir, I think you'd better sit while I stand and report my findings. They are a little disturbing." Barnes took a moment to gather his thoughts and then walked over to the computer terminal on the wall of Wallace's office. He pressed a few buttons on his PADD and then made the computer terminal turn on. It displayed a model of a DNA molecule.

"These aliens are products of highly developed genetic engineering. They have strength 3 times that of a Vulcan. They have many backup organs. Their epidermis is very tough--only a phaser rifle can pentrate it.

"The sixteen I tested all appeared to be only about 78 days old. Their genetic structure indicates this. Most intresting is that the DNA the Mullurans took was from live speicmens.

"I cross-referenced nearly all the reported ships missing from different powers and the DNA, and nearly most of it matches. I was able to narrow down the human DNA donnor and the Klingon donor. The human donor sir is going to be a shock sir." Barnes took a deep breath and turned the image from a signle DNA strand to a human image that Wallace couldn't believe.

"Son of a bitch!" Wallace said, standing up so fast it threw his chair over as he got up and walked over to the computer screen.

"Yes sir. Vincent Kelly," Barnes said, knowing how much Kelly was hated on SB901.

"The Kelly DNA was taken from a live spiecmen roughly five months ago, when Kelly was supposedly killed on Nimbus III," Barnes added, handing the PADD over to Wallace who sat scratching his chin and staring at the monitor.

"Thank you, Lieutenant. I trust you will keep this hush-hush. I'll put a letter of commendation in for you. Oh who is the best candidate to have created these soldiers?" Wallace asked, walking over to the replicator.

"Given the amount of evidence and the technology the Mullurans have, it's a very stong likelihood they are responsible," Barnes said, stopping before he left the door.

John felt good about this and left with a feeling of gratifcation knowing that he had done his job very well and pleased Admiral Wallace.
