Captains Log, Stardate 2461581,

Since the briefing Admiral Pike gave the senior staff three days ago concerning the Kelvan invasion, I've found myself doubting my ability to perform adequately as Captain of this vessel in this situation. I have watched the Talosian recording over and over again, particularly Admiral Pike's role in the whole thing. I try and see myself standing there in his shoes. Keeping as cool as he did, making the correct decisions that he did, but I can't. When the time comes, I think I may have to relieve myself of command and give it to him. I am sure he would act in the best interests of the crew and the Federation, I'm not sure that I am ready, as a Captain, for such a responsibility as this Kelvan threat.

I find the crew are reacting to this differently. Admiral Pike has become very secluded and has locked himself away in his quarters, I haven't seen him since the briefing. Lieutenants O'Neal and Hancock seem to be trying to take their minds off things by spending lots of time in the holodecks. Lieutenant Wang has buried himself further into his research about Karissa, and Tyran has been working with very little sleep doing his best to make sure this ship is ready, trying to squeeze every last ounce of energy he can into the energy and shields and to come up with as many tactical scenarios as he can. Out of all the crew, I think Tyran is the single person I am most worried about. The destruction of Bajor in the illusion had a large effect on him, one mauch larger than anyone can see or that he is willing to admit to himself. I just hope this doesn't effect his performance when we come into contact with the Kelvans.

On another note, I have been informed by Starfleet command that a Kelvan specialist will be arriving aboard in six days time. I wasn't informed who and I thought I had all the Kelvan specialists aboard anyway... Admiral Pike, Commander Kira and Commander Tyran. Even they can't think who they could be sending. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

End log.

Ryan leaned back in his chair and stared out the window into space. He watched the stars flash by as the ship travelled along in search of the Kelvans.

It had been three days since Admiral Pike had said that the Kelvans had arrived and would be arriving at this point in space. But so far, nothing had been found.

Ryan turned on the terminal on his desk and looked over a message from Starfleet.

Commanding Officer - USS Ronin

Starfleet Medical has recognised the research of one Lieutenant Ming Wang into genetic engineering and as a result of his work, finding a cure for down syndrom. Starfleet Medical is grateful for this research and is launching new studies of its own into down syndrom. Lieutenant Wangs name and research has been passed to Starfleet Command's board of promotion with full recommendation of rank of full Lieutenant from Starfleet Medical. This young officer shows great potential.

Admiral J. Beckett,
Starfleet Medical

*Ming will be pleased to hear about this* thought Ryan *I'd better wait until the promotion is confirmed though before telling him* Ryan once more returned to gazing out at the stars. The door chime went off interrupting his trail of thought.

"Enter" he called. Doctor Hancock stepped through the door. "What can I do for you Will?"

Will was about to open his mouth to speak when Kira's voice came over the comm channel.

[Captain Evans, Admiral Pike to the bridge.]

"This will have to wait doctor." said Ryan standing and heading out onto the bridge.

As Ryan arrived on the bridge Kira walked up to him and pointed at the view screen. Ryan recognised the scene from the Talosian illusion. On the view screen was a barren planet, stripped of all life and atmosphere with a perfectly smooth surface. Kira nodded as Ryan looked at him.

"It gets worse sir." Said Kira leading Ryan into the center of the bridge. "Chief, what have you picked up on sensors.

"Captain, this wasn't just any old planet, this planet was inhabited. There is sufficient debris in the area to account for orbital stations and satelites. THere is also a large debris field twenty five kilometres of our port bow. Looks like the inhabitants of this planet, tried to fight back." stated Talsmin.

"Like they'd stand a chance" retorted Tyran from tactical. "Captain, we have to go after the Kelvans now before they do any more damage!"

Admiral Pike walked onto the bridge as Tyran was saying this and took in the image on the view screen. he knew what had transpired here.

"Tyran, I'm sure the Admiral will agree with me that chasing down the Kelvans with a desire for revenge wont help these people." Pike nodded in agreement.

"Chief, are there any indications that show where the Kelvans may have gone to next?" asked Pike.

"None sir. Their battle planets don't leave engine imissions or any discernable trail for us to follow. I'd say by the background radiation in the vacinity that all this occured approximately two days ago."

"Captain, hold position here until our *expert* arrives" ordered Pike. With that, he left the bridge.

Tyran pounded his fist down on the tactical console.

"Problem Commander?" asked Ryan

"No sir" replied Tyran through gritted teeth.

Captain's log, suplemental,

We have now found evidence to say that Kelvans are now present in our galaxy. We found the remains of a an inhabited planet and a debris field indicating their fleet tried to put up a fight. However, we are still no closer to finding the Kelvans. There is no way to track their planets movements. Admiral Pike has ordered that we hold position here until our Kelvan expert arrives. Frankly, unless he is a Kelvan, I can't see him being of any more hlp than those we already have aboard. I just feel helpless hanging around here doing nothing when that planet could be destroying more planets as we speak.

Let's just hope this expert arrives soon.
