It had been busy the last several hours. Commander Tyran ordered Lieutenant O'Neal to perform readiness drills with his 16 man Security team. If Tyran didn't like the reaction time or the accuracy he made O'Neal run it over again.
Basically the drills were of reactions when and if the Ronin was to be boarded. The man thing was reaction time from when they got a comm message to go to a different part of the ship. Tyran wanted it as perfect as possible. Most the security crew cursed the Commander under their breath, all except O'Neal.
Sean knew if Nidge kept this up his team would be exhausted. Sean also knew if he was given the chance to perform the test he'd get great results. His mentor was Lieutenant Opka a great man in Sean's eyes.
Sean walked over to the commander who had his hand on a PADD. "Sir may I have a word with you in my office." Sean had the decency to know when certain things were best said in Private and not in front of junior officers.
The two officers walked to his office.Sean's
office was small but comfortable, a desk that had one chair behind it and one
in front of it. He had a model of a old British Spitfire plan on his desk, along
with an old
pilots helmet and goggles.
"Yes Lieutenant?"
"Sir, please don't take offense. In my opinion your riding the team really hard. I know you have your reasons sir. However the team is not gonna be doin any bloody better with you pushing them beyond their own limits.
Let me run my own drill."
Nidge was quiet and scratched his chin. "What kind of drill do you have in mind?"
"Well it's not exactly in the books. However Lieutenant Opka used it on me when I was on his team.
You see we kinda use the holodeck, and take the safety's off. " Sean was quiet for a few minutes. He could see Commander Tyran thinking.
"You can give me the specifics for the Kelvan's I'll create a few scenarios and then I'll give you the results."
Tyran stood up, and looked over at the team sitting down and trying to catch their strength again. "Fine I'll allow you to run your test." Tryan left after that and Sean got to work.
He stepped out of his office and looked at his team all were rather tired. "Where we going Lieutenant?" Crewman Gilbert asked
"I'm sending you all home with a hunk of chesse wrapped in the Federation flag up your ass, you damn Yank." Sean could be as smart as the next person if need be.
He kneeled down and talked to his team. "Alright were going to run last drill if everything is ok." A dozen groaning were herd.
"Hey shut up, this drill is kinda my own bloody recipe. So meet me down at the holodeck in 15 minutes. This time were gonna meet them Kelvans. And to make things interesting, no safeties."
"What?" A voice from the rear yield out.
"Hey this will make you all into hard asses if you do it right. And if not I hear we have some real good doctors onboard. So you guys better not screw up. 15 minutes. "
Sean walked down to the holodeck, and began programming a new program called Kelvan invasion. He made the program in a matter of minutes. He used the Ronin in the program too. He also shut the safeties off. He knew officially Star Fleet frowned on training with out the safeties on. Sean also knew the value of being ready at anytime. He also like the idea of his men knowing the fear, and feelings that come with pulling a trigger. He scratched his beard and gave a chuckle, and then walked outside the holodeck where the team was waiting. He walked over to the panel, and started to get the program running.
"Oh ladies you'll like this. Oh and don't get yourself hurt."
