"A Long Day"

Author: Lieutenant JG William Hancock
Date: August 11, 2384
Location: USS Ronin

It was finally over the day that is. Most of the injured had been treated and released, only three critical care patients were in sick bay. Hancock had sent all the nurses and assistant doctors home, except Jinn.

William walked over to his office and took a seat at his desk and looked at the two piles of PADDs that were there. He rolled his neck causing it to crack.

"Bloody paper work." Will said as he picked up the first PADD and read it to himself. He then gave a sigh and turned to see Doctor Jinn walk into his office.

"Yes Lieutenant?" Will asked giving a yawn.

"Sir you've been on duty for god knows how many hours. I think you should go and get some rest." Jinn said sounding concerned.

"Thanks love, but Captain Ryan asked for a casualty list and report no later then 0930 hours. So I've got no choice in the matter." William said giving a yawn.

Jinn walked over to the replicator and ordered a cup of coffee and tea. She then gave the tea to Will who took with a big smile. "Ah thank you love. Your a god send.

You want some good free advise?" Will asked before taking a sip of his tea.

"What's that?" She asked.

"Don't ever take Chief Medical Officer. Sure it's a fancy title and all. Just a pain in the bum. Paper work, here have this report in no later then this day. And you know what's really funny?"

"What?"

"Back on earth I'd be a lowly resident, but here I'm a CMO." Will gave a laugh and went back to his reports. He saw Jinn leave the office and go over and scan a patient. Will looked her over and thought how pretty and good looking she was. Then as if Jinn knew it she turned around and Will quickly went to work back on his reports.

The reports took almost 6 hours to complete. In all the Ronin Medical staff treated over 100 patients in less then 80 hours time. Will felt good about that and wrote out a recommendation for his assistant doctors, Nurses.

William walked into the Captain's ready room with his two reports. He stood at attention and acted still like a green graduate from the academy. "Sir I have those reports ready."

"At ease Doctor. Well take a seat." Ryan said reaching for the Two PADDs in Will's hand.

"Splendid job Lieutenant. You treated 109 patients only 5 serious injuries and two deaths from those injuries. You are also recommending your entire staff for accommodation." Ryan paused to look up at Lieutenant Hancock.

"Yes sir, I feel it was those below me that saved those lives sir. I can't take the credit." William was a very modest man for as young as he is. Ryan respected that and shook his head.

"Your department is very well ran Lieutenant and during this trying time your department did extremely well, congrats. I'll approve accommodations for your staff. Your dismissed Doctor."

"Thank you sir." William left feeling good about himself and walked out head held high. He stepped into the turbo lift and saw his friend Lieutenant O'Neal.

"Well did you just hump the Captain's cat? Or are you always this slack eyed and silly in the morning?" O'Neal asked being his normal smart alleck self with his friend.

"Nope, but my staff is very pleasing to me and the entire ship. Now if you'd excuse me I need to catch some rest lad." Will said stepping out of the turbo lift and walked towards his quarters.
