Tyran sat in his quarters. The lights were off -- the only light coming from the computer screen he had been staring at for the past six hours and the nebula outside. Four Kelvan planets had found them two days earlier. The *Ronin* had taken shelter inside a nearby nebula out of reach of the planets. Torasu circled his legs, meowing, clearly wanting to be fed, but Tyran was too involved in his work to even notice the cat was there.
Tyran had been studying all the information on Kelvans. He had become frustrated with Captain Evans' and Admiral Pike's decisions, especially after the recent Kelvan attack. In his opinion, an all-out assault was what was needed, and he had come up with a way to make it possible. Of course, neither the Admiral nor the Captain would approve of it... it was far, far too risky. This meant that the crew Tyran chose for this mission would have to be more loyal to him than to the Captain. Kira had disobeyed Pike before with Tyran's help, Tyran was sure he could count on him for this, and if not, then all would be lost as Kira was critical for this mission to succeed.
He would also need a pilot and a doctor. Lieutenants McMillan and Hancock would have been Tyran's first choices, but McMillan was too close to the Captain, they'd been through a lot together; he would have to find another pilot. Hancock didn't really have that strong a tie with the Captain, nor Tyran himself for that matter, but Lieutenant Tierro would be a safer bet at the moment. With Ming possessed by the Kelvan, she had a reason to be involved. Hopefully, she had as good a medical knowledge as Hancock.
"Boo!"
Tyran almost jumped out of his seat. He had been so involved in what he was doing, he had not noticed Dinara come home.
"Whatcha doin'?" she asked.
"Nothing," Nige replied, quickly flicking off the console.
"Must be somethin' for you to be sitting here all alone in the dark." Torasu came circling round her legs. "And to have not fed poor Torasu...," she said in a cutsey voice as she picked him up and cuddled him. "What would you like, some nice tuna flakes? Yes, I'm sure you would," she said, walking over to the replicator.
"Just a few ideas I have in my head... It's not important, they weren't working out."
"Aww, I'm sorry hun. You wanna talk about them? Maybe we could have a look together and get them to work. You look really tired, after all."
"No thanks. You know, I think I need a walk... clear my head a bit," he said heading for the door.
"Ok hun. See you later."
Tyran went over and kissed her. "I love you."
"What's this for?" she asked, not sure what had brought on this sudden emotion in her husband.
"Can't a bloke say he loves his wife?"
"Well.. yeah..."
"Well then stop complaining" he said. "See you soon." the doors slid behind him. "I hope.... "
