Will was working hard trying to focus
on something other then the battle that killed his first Captain. The pain was
mostly in his heart -- a sinking feeling and possibly a loss of something more
than he could bear. The thoughts were always the same. *Could I have done something
better?*
On the bridge of the *Ronin*, Lieutenant O'Neal had found something on scanners
-- something he was glad he found. He thought about reporting it, but had an
idea. *This is for you, Capt'n.* O'Neal quickly transferred the data to a PADD
and put in his security code and then tapped his comm badge.
"Lieutenant Hancock, O'Neal here. I need to have a word with yea in private."
[Okay, Sean.]
"Hey crewman, take over here while I take care of some personal business." O'Neal walked quickly to sickbay and told his close friend to shut the door leading to his office.
"All right Sean, what seems to be so important?"
"I found a bastard Nausicaan ship about 3.4 lightyears away. Sensors say they have suffered heavy damage to their shields and weapons. They won't be operational for a spell." O'Neal turned and saw that most of the patients were asleep.
"So what you want us to do?"
"I don't know about you, but I want some bloody payback. We lost thirty-four good souls not to mention a damn fine Captain."
"What about our beliefs? If we go and attack them we would be no better off." Hancock walked over to his desk and looked down.
"Screw Starfleet. If we let these bastards run, they'll be back -- I promise that. And god knows how many more Starfleet people they'll freaking kill. We'll be killing to save lives. It's redemption for Pete's sake."
Will took a deep breath and looked up. He saw the screen that contained the KIA list. And then turned to see the wounded lying in sickbay. He was torn between three things. Hippocratic Oath, Loyalty Oath to the Federation, and his friendship to his best friend. "I won't go. I suggest if you want to leave, leave now."
Sean straighten his tunic and took his comm badge off, and placed it on the desk in front of him. "I probably won't come back." Sean had a thought that seemed stupid but made sense to his pride. He would slam the shuttle into the Nausicaan ship killing all including himself. That way he wouldn't have to face trial. Sean took his right hand and extended it out.
"Well old friend, can't say it hasn't been fun. I'll see you in heaven." Sean walked out and headed towards the shuttle bay.
The remark William heard took a few minutes to sink in. Then it hit him. *Ah, crap.* Will pulled out two phasers from behind his desk and walked out of the sickbay. He hid the phasers under his tunic.
Sean made his way to the shuttle bay without any problems. He walked over to the Type 10 shuttle and saw it was armed with some phaser strips. The cargo door slid open, scaring Sean.
"Come on. You're going to need a pilot," Will said, walking towards the entrance of the shuttle. He ran inside and began to power up the engines. Sean used his access code to open the bay doors. That was what set off the security alarm on the bridge.
Tyran was on the bridge when the alarm sounded. "Who is that?" he yelled to the security crewman. "Lieutenant O'Neal, report to the bridge."
No response.
"Computer, where is Lieutenant O'Neal?"
<Lieutenant O'Neal is in sickbay.>
"Computer, where is Doctor Hancock?"
<Lieutenant Hancock left the ship at 2300 hours.>
*Oh my god.*
"Crewman, lock a tractor beam."
"I can't. They seem to be feeding a surge charge into the command controls." The *Ronin's* lights shipwide flickered on and off, allowing the shuttle to go to warp speed.
"Great. Now we'll get sabotage along with theft," Hancock yelled as the shuttle raced to its desired position.
