Background

Marco was born onboard the USS Enforcer, an Ambassador class vessel on which both his parents were serving officers. He had a fairly normal Starfleet family life, but with the advantage of having both his parents serving on the same vessel. The only time he moved was when his parents were both transferred to the USS Dante (Another Ambassador class vessel), where his father Jake was to be the Commanding officer and his wife Chala, the Executive officer.

Marco has never truly figured out the precise moment that he knew that he wanted to join Starfleet, but he continues to strive to discover when during his childhood he said. "I want to be a Starfleet officer". Even though both his parents were Starfleet officers, they never put any pressure on their son to follow in their 'footsteps', his mother especially encouraging Marco to find his own path in life. He does however know exactly when he knew that should he join Starfleet, he wanted to work in Operations.

That day came when his father woke him up at around midnight and took his young son upto the Bridge for the first time. Like most children who lived on starships, he had studied all the blueprints and schematics and probably knew more about the ship than many of the crew. When he stepped onto the Bridge for the first time, only his mother and a Cadet helm officer were on duty. His father took the young boy around all the unmanned stations and explained to him the function of each console and what was expected of the officer that manned the station. When they came to the last console, the Operations console, his father explained the console to his son and the duties of the Operations officer. His father then allowed the young boy to perform two shipwide functions from the console.

The first was to activate the transition from the night-shift C-22 to day shift Gamma and his father explained what the transaction entailed. All over the ship, the non-critical areas had moved from night into day, lights had been switched on all over the ship and areas of the ship that had been unoccupied overnight began to heat up once more.

The second function his father allowed the young Marco to perform was a realignment of the long-range sensors. He explained to Marco how to align the sensors and then let the young man adjust them by twelve degrees, which he achieved without any prompting from his father. Ever since that night on the Bridge, Marco knew that being in Operations on a starship was definitely his goal when he grew up.

As soon as he turned eighteen, he applied and was accepted at the Academy.

He started working towards an Operations career path, majoring in Advanced Operations control (Operational management) in his second year. At the beginning of his third year at the academy, he decided very late on that he would like to do something different. He was luck to be accepted into the Advanced courses in Modular Science and Astronomical Phenomena (Nebulas and other class A interstellar phenomena). He found that as well as a passion for Operations, he actually enjoyed doing the Science, especially studying interstellar phenomenon such as nebulas.

Borealiou 2He graduated from the academy with a 98.253% make, which was the second highest for his year and was immediately posted aboard the USS Intrepid (The first Intrepid class vessel in Starfleet) as an assistant operations officer.

Two years later, he decided to transfer to another vessel and was assigned to the USS Tenochitlan, a Galaxy class vessel as a Junior science officer, his knowledge of nebula type phenomena making him the ships specialist in that area. It was whilst serving onboard the Tenochitlan that he was injured during an away mission, which has left him with weakened chest muscles. After recuperating from his injury, he requested a transfer back into Operations from his Captain. The Captain agreed and as well reassigning Marco as the ships Assistant Operations chief, he also gave him a field promotion the Lieutenant (Junior Grade).

When the Tenochitlan returned to Federation space after it's three year mission, Marco transferred yet again to the USS Hamburg. The Hamburg, a Denmark class scout-explorer was a small, fast, deep-space vessel who's mission it was to investigate the Mycardiaw Nebula for signs of cloaked Marquis outposts and shipyards. It was believed that these were now being used by Orion pirates to attack shipping in the area. As the Hamburg was a small vessel, it had a minimal crew and as well as being the ships Senior Operations officer, he was also their scientific mission expert. His knowledge of Class U nebula's and similar phenomena proved to be of great us and the Hamburg found three outpost, including one that was active.

Marco remained on the Hamburg until it was decommissioned in July 2385. With no ship to serve on, he was reassigned to the USS Taurus as their Senior Operations officer. As well as the transfer, Marco was also promoted to the rank of Full Lieutenant.

Marco has a very high tolerance to pain, able to endure a great deal of pain before letting it affect him significantly. He also has a higher than average stamina rating. His one weakness is the fact that due to an accident whilst serving aboard the USS Tenochitaln, he suffered some major injuries to his upper torso. This has left him with a weakness in his chest, which if attacked can leave him winded for some time.

Personal

Borealiou 3Marco has the ability to get along with everyone he comes into contact with, finding it easy to make friends with others. However, he also has a tendency to just get on with things and it has been said that although he appears to be friendly, he is hard to make friends with.

As a child he was bitten by the families pet Springier spaniel and although the damage was only minor, it has left Marco with a fear of dogs. This fear is more noticeable around energetic dogs that are jumping and barking in their daily lives. Around more placid dogs, especially the smaller breeds he can control is fear to a great extent.

Marco also does not have a very good head for heights and whilst this could not be classed as a fear of heights, he does prefer to work in low-level environments.

Special Abilities

Marco can speak several Terran languages to varying degrees, he is fluent in Federation Standard and German and can speak intermediate French. He is also learning Klingon and one of his ambitions is to one day be able to order a Raktajino in a Klingon mess hall without accidentally insulting the entire room of Klingons and their bloodlines.

Marco has a very high tolerance to pain, able to endure a great deal of pain before letting it affect him significantly. He also has a higher than average stamina rating.

Hobbies

Marco has a fascination with antiquated Starfleet academy command training simulations. He has programmed many of these into holo-programmes where he always take the role of being the Cadet Captain. One of his favourites is the 'Kobayashi Maru scenario' an apparently impossible problem to solve, but Marco has been determined to discover how the legendary Captain James T Kirk, was the only one to solve the problem.

He also enjoys writing and performing in holo-novels and acting in various plays.
