"Reporting As Ordered Sir"

The transporter beam always felt as if someone was hitting Thomas in the elbow or supposed funny bone. He closed his eyes and counted to three and opened them up and was in another transporter room. This time manned by a young Petty officer. Standing by the Petty Officer was young pretty female Ensign wearing red.

"Welcome aboard the USS Taurus Chief. I've been told to escort you to the Commander's ready room.", the young ensign said with a firm yet respectful tone of voice.

"What you want me to do with my bags Ensign?" Thomas said a looking at his left hand which contained his smaller duffle bag. "Petty Officer Cruz will take your bags to your quarters. " The young ensign said.

It took about 10 minutes to reach Commander Buford's ready room. Which was rather small and cozy for it's size. A nice desk a few small tables yet to be decorated and a small couch that could seat three. Thomas stood at attention reported like he had done for nearly 30 years.

"Senior Chief Thomas Hawk reporting as Ordered sir.", Thomas looked over the Commander who sat forward in his chair and remained quiet for a few minutes to examine his physical stature.

"At ease Chief. Davis your dismissed." Buford said looking at the young Ensign and watching her leave, then the Commander continued.

"Pleasure to have aboard you my first Command Chief. I've made it a point to familerize myself with my crew's records. Nearly been in for thirty years. Damn long time Chief."

"Yes sir. It's been an eventful career. Can't say it hasn't been fun."

"Well I hope you won't feel pressured but I will look to your expertise when it's needed. Also feel free to lend your opinion if you feel something's wrong. "

"Gladly sir."

"Your dismissed."

Damn finely a Captain that isn't afraid to learn from others. I know this will be an interesting tour. Thomas thought as walked out towards his quarters.
